**** it! You guys jinxed me. Went out to start my car today and tick-tick-tick-tick! Battery is dead. Voltage at the terminals is 12.04. Started fine on Saturday a few times. Nothing was left on. Just going to replace it.

Those Walmart EverStart Maxx batteries (MAXX-124R, $98) have some great Consumer Reports reviews, have long warranties (free first 3 years, prorated after 3 years to 5 years) and are MUCH less expensive. Better fitment as well.
Walmart used to be good batteries about 10 yrs ago. They are Junk now.

If you want a Good battery. Take your core and go to Batteries Plus and get a good battery. They are made by Dura Cell.
Interstate used to be good batteries. But they are not made to last.
I've had a lot of problem with them since they went to Mexico.

Why not go to the people whom are in the Battery Business. And you don't have to join a club to buy their batteries.
Go to Batteries Plus.
And when you go in. Don't try to look for the cheapest Battery that you can buy. But the best Battery you can buy.
I've ran a company of service vehicles. Bought batteries from everywhere.
Got the best Batteries I've ever had at Batteries Plus.
Got a Battery that I put in a Zero Turn lawn mower that lasted 5 yrs.

These folks specialize in Batteries. They don't just sell batteries.
And NO they don't carry interstate.
Realize this. There are only like 6 companies that make batteries in the U.S.

Remember this. there are only 2 companies that makes batteries that use Virgin lead.
Those companies are Odyssey and Northstar.

Virgin lead
will make a battery last longer and give a stronger charge.
If you want a battery with Virgin lead you need to go to a place that sells Batteries.
And when you get a AGM style battery. Remember its important to get a charger for AGM batteries too.

Anybody tried to replace the battery with a different brand?.
I noticed replacing it with other brand would be a problem. The positive terminal is an L shape and the lock thats holding it attache with a small bracket in a groove in the bottom part. View attachment 34153
I have been searching endlessly for a replacement... founder it... Agm H6 walmart had it and it has the terminals closer to the firewall as needed... pass that on!

Agm H6 fits properly vs the 124 r

Alright, I've read each post in this thread and every time I get the confidence I get turned down by another post.
2013 Kia Optima. Which battery will fit and is the right none?

People talk about the H6, vs the 124R.

WalMart (https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-Platinum-AGM-Battery-Group-H6-12Volt-760CCA/944775111)
Listed the "EverStart Platinum AGM Battery, Group H6 (12Volt/ 760CCA)" but the website says it doesn't fit.

And then on AutoZone, the Kia Optima Battery D35 Group Size 35 620 CCA - people are saying it doesn't fit.

So which battery exactly, besides OEM, will have a perfect fitment or near perfect fitment as an OEM battery?

Looks like the "DieHard Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H6, 760 CCA" will fit the 2013 Kia Optima, but again, contradicting information I am finding online. Anyone know if this will have any fitment issues? Their websites says it doesnt fit.

Hmm, I wonder if you can confirm by physically measuring the battery?

The three issues I can think of to check:
1) Does the battery provide enough amps and storage capacity?
2) Is the battery the right size to physically fit into the space for the battery?
3) Does the bottom of the battery have the right size of lip for the car's mounting system to grip the battery?

I don't have a way of confirming, which is why I was originally asking.
There was just too many contradicting information in this thread and it wasn't quite clear as to which battery we actually need - that fits. Some said the Group Size H6, whereas others said the D35 Group Size 35 would fit.

So my question still stands, as to which battery will actually fit in an 2013 Kia Optima EX, US Georgia Made? The Group Size H6 or the D35 Group Size 35?

Would anyone happen to know?

I'm researching this forum religiously and I just can't find the information. People say they went to autozone, costco, things like that but nobody is really saying the size. I've read H6 fits (but to what year) who knows. Then I've read Group Size 35 fits (but to what year?) who knows, and now I am reading in one thread specifically about a 2013 kia optima EX, someone said the 34R fits - though they had an SX or something like that. When googling for my year, make and model, it says Group Size H7 AGM battery fit.

By the way, I should clarify myself. I am deployed overseas right now, so it would have been better if I could bring my car to autozone to get fitted with the correct battery, however, my car is currently stored and I am having a mobile mechanic come to replace it. Rather than having to pay him to go back and forth, I was trying to have him just stop by Autozone to pick up the materials and go to the car to do the work. This is the reason why I am trying to find the right size. But I guess I'll just try the
Odyssey Battery 34R-790 Group Size 34R 792 CCA
for $249 at Autozone.

In the meantime, if anyone happens to know which battery fits for replacement for a 2013 Kia Optima EX, US Georgia Made? That would be greatly appreciated.

If I get the battery before someone posts, I'll let you all know how it worked out.

Oh, I bought my replacement battery from Advance Auto, but I can't remember which one I got.

I have a 2012 SX, which is the 2.0 Turbo engine. Does your 2013 EX have the 2.4 engine, or the 2.0 Turbo?

Perhaps the conflicting info you are seeing is due to the fact that (I think) the 2013 EX can have either type of engine, and maybe the two different engines can fit different ranges of battery sizes?

I can only speak for my 2.0T engine, but I'll check my battery and let you know which one I have (in the hopes that you have the 2.0T engine too?)

I just did this for my wife and the AutoZone battery page had Year-Brand-Model drop-dns I clk'd and it THEN Told Me what battery FIT.
Go to AZone site ($20 cheaper for Same Specs as AdvAuto Diehard) and do the exercise.

NOTE: The Bty Choose-er will suggest the higher end = More $$ Bty, and oddly the AZone guy said I could install an acid Bty @ $30 Less - Current AZone AGM Bty had lasted 5 1/3 Yrs so I went AGM Best again.

Thanks for your response.
Obviously I've tried that already but again I appreciate your response.

Had you took the time to actually read through my responses, you'd prefer to either not reply at all with the obvious (given that it was clear I visited autozone etc websites) there was no need to further stretch this thread with something as unhelpful as your response. It was a smart ass response that wasn't needed, rather I was seeking specifics of batteries that actually fit. Not go on a website and trust it fits when members on here, specifically this thread, said that information was wrong.

Further more, I've asked in regards to a 2013, specifically, and it appears you've got the a 2016. You could clarify by saying the two have the same engines? But you did not. So thanks for your reply.

Back at it.....
I'm asking what battery fits. We have contradicting information in here which also states the websites autozone and similar say certain batteries FIT - but actually don't and batteries that say they DONT FIT - actually fit. Thus, we come to sizesnsuxh as H6, 124R etc.

Read the responses please. Let's be a community that helps each other. We all share the same interest one way or another.

What type of engine is in your 2013 EX? The 2.4 or the 2.0T?
Thanks for your response and being so proactive. Looks like we're one of the two that are the most active (at least in the two threads we've been chit-chatting in). I've got a 2013 Kia Optima EX. It's the 2.4, and not the 2.0 motor. My apologies, I guess I should of been a bit more specific as to which battery fit, but I've ended up just going with the battery at AdvancedAutoParts:

The price for the battery doesn't matter to me, but I'm providing the information for future reference to those in the future who are in a similar boat (i.e looking for an exact OE, non OEM battery replacement) - I have a 2013 Kia Optima EX, US Georgia Made. I'll go back to OEM, direct from the stealership, when I get back to the states.

Ultimately, I will find out on Saturday 10/24 (and I will provide an update) on how this battery fits.

🆕 UPDATE 10/26/2020 🆕
DieHard Gold Battery, Group Size 124R, 700 CCA Part No: 124R-2: The mobile mechanic installed the battery, and said everything fit. Car runs, without any issues of power whatsoever. To what extent of "fit" I'm am not entirely sure but he did say that he didn't have a problem with connecting the cables, clearance of the hood or any components within the engine. He simply removed the old OEM battery, put this one in and that was that. Since I am deployed overseas my phone that I use does not accept MMS messages so I don't have a picture to show anyone, which I was hoping to get. (If you have a 2013 Kia Optima EX, Us Georgia Made 2.4L, you should be good to go with the battery I mentioned and linked directly above. At least the side, and group will fit). I will try and get a photo at some point, and when I do I will be back to update this thread just as I did today.

That way, and again, for those in the future whom may be in a similar boat with an 2013 Kia Optima EX may know as to which battery actually fits if they wish to go without an OEM battery.

Lastly, just remember; this forum is a community of members who all share the same interest. We should be helping each other out. I hope my posts in this thread will assist those in the future. Good luck!

EDIT: Oh, and while were on the subject of stock stuff, what fits what doesn't. Here is a thread with the right oil and fluid quartz sizes and types of fluids you could use on a 2013 kia optima EX. Part number / quartz size for all fluids. 2013 Kia Optima EX 2.4L -- https://www.optimaforums.com/threads/stock-battery-replacement.23602/page-3#post-2236132 Hope this helps people in the future.
