Do you guys have any recommendations for an alarm system w/remote start, that all can be activated from the OEM key fob? My understanding is that the python 1401 is not an alarm system too, corrrect?

I know I'm coming in a little late on the thread, but I have to say thank you to everyone that contributed... I just ordered two of everything from Amazon (Fiancee has a 2011 Sorrento with PTS, I have a 2012 Optima with PTS), and I absolutely CAN'T wait to try this out! Thanks again everyone!!!

n/p jkingman hope everything goes smoothly for you and if u get stuck we are here to help. remember to double check your wires before u connect and dont leave the bypass module connected when your installing it beacuse it WILL pull ground and burn it out..

ok... can someone who's trying this out do a picture DIY? i'm really interested in doing this... but i'm horrible with anything electricity...

Posted on another forum looking for the connector location and wire color for the (-) lock wire to use for my trigger wire and they were saying the factory fob wont work once the vehicle is remote started but obviously BERTO got it to work. Does the EVO-ALL allow the FOB to still work after remote start or is there something else I need to do? I'm not using the Python model like BERTO but a Crimestopper one.

Thanks man :)
Soooo - I did the install yesterday, in 90 degree heat here in New England... fun. I had read elsewhere about the bypass module, so I wired that last ;)

Anyway - here's my issue (and after looking at the Python forums I think it's a dead brain). Triple checked my wiring, EVO-ALL programmed fine (way easier than I thought it would be). I have one lead from the EVO-ALL that is identified as being wired to the RS module, but I can't figure out where. Beyond that, when I try to remote start the car, I hear the controller relay click 7 times (no flash, and there was no voltage at the steering column harness when I turned on the parking lights - sigh). Horn honks at lock/unlock, but again no light flash, and no lock actuation. Hood pin checks out OK, tach wire is on the white signal on the #3 coil, Neutral safety is grounded...

Oh - and I haven't found the lock line for the relay yet, and will be asking later on how to program the Python for double pulse on that line (the installation manual identified something about a SPST momentary inline to ground, but it looked like that was just to actuate it)

So before I go grab another Python unit, anyone have any thoughts?

I have hooked up a crimestopper rs-00 using a Fortin EVO-ALL bypass module in a 2012 Optima with Push to Start. The EVO-ALL does allow the factory FOB to keep working even after the remote start is active. There are two problems I am dealing with.

First: I can't get the lock motor wire to work as my trigger. I am using a relay for reversing the (+) lock motor wire to be used as a (-) trigger wire. I cannot get the wire to trigger the remote start. If I touch the trigger on a ground, it will activate the remote start so I know the unit is working properly. The wire I am using is a gray wire from the plug on the rear of the SJB on the passenger side and the one in the picture. Is this the correct wire, and if so, any ideas why it isn't triggering the remote start?

Second: The EVO-ALL said it supports hood switch but the remote start doesn't shut down when I open the hood. Can anyone help me identify the location of the connector and the wire color for the (-) hood wire so I can direct wire the hood shutdown?

Thanks

with the relay what pins and what wires are hook to those pins?

Hood switch needs to be wired I do believe.

I put a motion forth to send Berto up to the North East to do a group install. I have a guest room for my house. I also have a hook up through Holiday Inn to send Berto to a couple places. The only problems is Berto, you there? You have to take a couple days off work. I'll make the itinerary.

Positive wire coming from what I thought was the lock motor wire (which I now believe was the wrong wire) to 86, trigger from remote start to 87, 85 & 30 to ground.

So I got everything hooked up today thanks to everyone's help. The lock motor wire in the 2012 push to start is in the front of the SJB. It is in the left hand plug in the #4 position. The only unusual thing is that there are two gray wires in the same #4 position. I just randomly picked one.

The Fortin Guide listed everything needed to do the install with pictures except the trigger wire which everyone here helped me locate.

There is a 10mm bolt that secures the top of the SJB to the frame of the car. It is a great location to mount the relay used to change the polarity of the (+)lock motor wire to (-) for the trigger required. It can also be used to ground the relay and as a ground for the remote start.

Thanks again to everyone for their help!

SJB - Smart Junction Box. Its a fancy word for the fuse box under the dashboard. There are several plugs in the front of the SJB and a couple on the back.

The other thing I would add is that I updated my EVO-ALL using the Flash Link to get the most current firmware version 4.06. According to Fortin, with the updated software the programming sequence for the EVO-ALL has changed slightly since the guide was published. Follow the directions on the guide. When the you get to the part where you press the Push to Start button twice, instead of the red LED blinking 10 times, both the red and blue LEDs will blink rapidly. I entered a support ticket with Fortin when I had this condition and they reported the unit was successfully programmed. I confirmed that because my remote start works like a champ.

Older firmware versions may work, but I went ahead and updated mine.

Another interesting point is that the hood pin does work with the EVO-ALL through the CAN-BUS (meaning you don't have to physically connect a hood pin wire) in that it prevents the unit from remote starting when the hood is open BEFORE you try to remote start the car. However, it will not shut the unit down if the car has been remote started and then you pop the hood. If you want that functionality, you will need to wire a hood pin directly to your remote start unit. There is a direct wire to the EVO-ALL for a hood pin, but if you direct wire that one, you will get the same function as the CAN-BUS provides with no shut down when the hood is popped after a remote start.

I couldn't think of anytime where the car would be remote started and then the hood opened for maintenance. So I am fine with the way it works.

Ok - so I ripped out the Python and replaced it with a single function Avanti - interfaced just fine with the Fortin bypass module and is working the way it's supposed to (including the twopulse off the lock motor line) YAY!

One issue still - the bypass module programmed just fine, process completed successfully. Remote start will turn over the vehicle if the smartkey is in the car, but not if it's out of the car (kind of defeats the purpose :\). Any thoughts? I've double and triple checked my wiring, and I'd figure that if it wasn't pulling the CAN data properly, it wouldn't program in the first place...
