in my car do not work. I've plugged in my phone charger and doesn't work. Also plugged in my garmin I used to use before the nav in my car, still won't charge. I plug both these in another vehicle and they work fine. One stopped working maybe a few months ago, the other within the last week.

Any ideas?

I checked the manual, located the fuse box. without checking every 15 fuse, any idea which one it is? The manual refers to "cigar lighter" being a 15 fuse.... also the front power outlet, another 15 fuse.

I tell you what drives me nuts is the not having constant power from them. I am used to leaving my phone on the charger while I'm at work or while I am in a mall to keep it fresh, but you cant do it with these things, lol. I was at a car stereo place and brought it up...the guy working there said "But if you ran one hot...wouldnt it drain your battery?" Really??? I told him this was the first car I had that didn't always have a constant hot, but I'll be hooking one up very soon.

btw way these are D/C outlets not A/C. There are no A/C outlets on the optima
+1 Sick...DC is for cars...AC is for your house:smile:

I'd bet money that it's just a blown fuse.

You are joking right??? If you remove the cover to the fuse panel, it's written right on it which fuse is what and should also be identified in the manual. It's called "Power Outlet". In the pic above from Red...far left row third from the bottom.

Are you sure you don't need new glasses???

i didn't see any indication of which fuse was which on my car but i could have missed it. just understand not everyone has the technical investigation of a vehicle or experience that you might have. but i do thank you for the help, i found the two fuses blown and am going to replace them soon as i get back from the auto part store.

Again, thanks.

(FYI I was being sarcastic about "check the manual!" its true, but not trying to yell at ya haha)

glad you found the broken fuse.

No need to go to the auto store right away for fuses. Check the diagram I posted, you'll see there's a 15A spare fuse and a 10A spare already.SO if thats all you need then pull those and swap it in place of the blown fuse(s) real quick to see if it solves your problem. ..Can check the engine compartment fuse box too for a spare, check the bottom of the lid for the fuse map/layout to find a spare in that engine fuse box... Of course just remember to replenish the spares for another "rainy day"

All new owners should log in/create an KGIS account. Kia shares a ton of info on their cars, check it out sometime: http://www.kiatechinfo.com/
