well guys im installing a keyless entry/remote start system in my car tomorrow system i will be install is a python 1401 with evo-all module i'll let you guys know how it goes. are cars are alittle pain in the butt beacuse they combine the B.C.M and S.J.B and Smart key module all together so doubt that u will be able to use the factory remote after remote starting. one thing i did notice is that u can use the factory remote to remote start it but can't use the factory remote to turn if off after u remote start it with the facoty remote beacuse the remotes will be disable after remote start. but u can use the key in the door handle get in and drive away ofcourse if you step on the brake before hitting the push start button first the car will shut off. yesterday i was trying out the range on the factory remote and it has pretty good range in an open parking lot but ofcourse when your in the city signal will get affected. cross your fingers and wish me luck :)

good luck man! really wish Kia had integrated the remote start. the 2011 Ford edge limited I have has a smart key with remote start. I was really hopping for the same but o well.

Hey guys got done the remote start sorry it took so long had other things going at once the car is able to remote start with after market remote and I know you guys want to hear this I also made it so u only news the factory remote to remote start and drive away. So yes you can use the factory remote instead of carrying around 2 remote I will up load pictures and video tomorrow

I want the remote start with the smartphone app like Chevy has. Maybe someday.
Have been tpld the viper pss3000 with a dball module will work with the car. Car toys wants 427 to install it and best buy wants 470. Just leary of putting it on the vehicle but here in Texas all of our vehicles have always had remote start so something will go on soon.

I'm in love! this would complete my hybrid to the fullest!

In the area, I'd pay too!!!

the distance was pretty good using the factory remote in a parking lot i was about 10 or 12 cars away and i still had full control if range if the problem i still have the after market remote. ofcourse range depends on where u are building and car garages and so on but are factory remote have pretty good range to start it from the house. im going to see whats the limits on it but im not too worried about range beacuse by the time u get to your car from walking across the parking lot it will be nice and ready for you

and the smart start from dei is good but i don't see paying every year so i can start my car from the phone. to me it's not worth it. how many times are you going to start it with your phone. i will only use it to start it when and if my car sleeps outside the garage and on hot summer days when we go out :)

i live charlotte nc i like doing things that people say it can't be done. i like challenges. and no the alarm is not affected u still have the factory alarm the remote start only comes on after the second pulse of the locks like i said everything works just like factory if u like i'll show your the panic and factory alarm going of. it's really simple all im doing is locking the doors twice using a relay to reverse polarity from positive to negative for the remote start input wire beacuse and cars have a type B door lock system meaning at rest the door lock switch has a positive on it and when press is throws a negative. so aslong as u have a push start system in any car u will always carry around too remote unless u use the factory remote to start it or u use the dei smart start system but then u have to pay every year or 3 years for that.

hey berto, can you tell me more about what you did? as in what the module really do? I was talking to a Kia service manager and he said the module "hijacks" the onboard computer and would void the warranty...

#25 · (Edited)
the bypass module i used was the evo-all module and the services manager doesnt know what his talking about beacuse it doesn't hyjack the computer. the module only copies the signal of the smart key and the module is only active when the remote start is on. so he doesn't know what his saying. if kia dealership will offer a remote start for the PTS then they will be doing the same thing bypassing the factory system to make the car turn on. the evo all or the idatalink module both use the can high and can low comunication wires of the cars to transmit and recieve signals from the car so u can basically control everything u want for the remote/security in the car by sending the proper codes so to the factory computer would understand it's a two way comunacation just like hooking up a module on the obd2 port that's all. no warranty voided only if u really screw up hooking up the and wires of the can high and can low wiresand cause the computer to malfunction and ofcourse dealership has to prove that what u did cause the problem. lots of dealership have outside contractors install remote start/ security system and we all use same bypass method.

If I printed this out and went to an installer would they know how to mimic the steps you took to have the same results? If not could you spell it out a little more so that I can go to a shop and have them install similarly.

I'm still blown away with this, amazing work man. Truely amazing.

yes every installer will know what moudle and what firmware to use some might not carry the fortin bypass modules or the idatalink modules so give then time to get it. they will charge just for the module about $100 bucks but u can get then online for 60 already comes flash with the firmware u need for the car but they will do it

First of all, this is so cool, and those lights in the door handles look great too! You really know your stuff.

Just one question...If you are starting the car with the second click of the remote button (alarm activation), is it no longer possible to activate the alarm on the car without starting it?

#29 ·
no factory alarm only arms when u lock the doors with one click and when u remote start it your using 2 clicks factory alarm remains on still after remote starting once you use your remote to unlock alarm is deactivated or when you approach the car with the smart key in your pocket and hit the button on the door handle

Berto, huge props for so elegantly integrating aftermarket mods. I love it when mods can be done and the whole thing still feels factory. I bow to your electronic wizardry ;)

I would love to have this done, but I may wait a bit for more installers in my area to become familiar with these cars, or for a more thorough tutorial to be produced. My first priority is the factory-style LED running lights without cutting my bumper.

:(

I'm picking up my car tomorrow and I had them install a regular starter (with the extra remote) because they insisted they can't use the KIA remote for car starters. If only I would have read this a few days ago...

Can it be changed after the fact? I could go back to the sub contractor garage they use and tell them to "fix it" for a price. I hate the idea of needing two remotes for my car.

Hey Berto...thanks for all the info on remote start...i'm getting one soon...probably a 'micro alarm 2-way'...i have one on my Kia Soul and it works great...is there a remote start / car alarm that will let u use OEM fob for both (start and set alarm)? I like the way you installed so i can use OEM fob to start, but i would like to only occasionally set my car alarm, but not always...my wife loves push button start, and she will not want to dig in her purse to get alarm fob to disarm. She will mostly use remote start from kitchen with our spare OEM fob. Thanks for your help.

one thing i did notice is that u can use the factory remote to remote start it but can't use the factory remote to turn if off after u remote start it with the facoty remote beacuse the remotes will be disable after remote start. but u can use the key in the door handle get in and drive away ofcourse if you step on the brake before hitting the push start button first the car will shut off.
In your video it looks like you found a way around these problems. Did you have to do anything special with the wiring to make this work, or did you just hook it up as the instructions said to do? I am going to be tackling this ASAP now that there is a real solution out there.

Yeah using the EVO-ALL module u can make it work like I have it. But to make it start with the factory fob u need a relay connected to the lock wire to send a signal.to.the remote start to turn on the car. On the remote start module u need to set it to two activation input on the remote activation wire so when u hit the door lock twice it starts the car
