My buddy started work at a Hyundai dealership and told me to come by and look at a 2013 sonata turbo. They wanna deal bad. I drove it... It's not the optima. I went down the street to the Kia dealership they have a 2013 Remington red sxt.... If the numbers are right I may trade my LX and my obsession starts again!

Probably...just a little lol

I have to say...one of my close friends has a 2013 Sonata SE 2.0T, and I've driven it on multiple occasions. I don't know exactly what it is about the car...I mean, of course it's a nice car and everything, but it's definitely not for me. It's something about the seating position and how you feel behind the wheel - I sort of felt like it was designed for older people, and maybe it was, not a bad thing, I'm just saying...the Optima definitely has more of a sporting intention about it. I guess it's all about what you're looking for. I look at Sonatas before I looked at the Optima when I was buying, and I just sort of felt like it was too..."blah". I do think it's a handsome car, but between a Sonata and an Optima, it was a no-brainer for this guy.

I will definitely agree with this. I saw some photos of a 2015 Sonata Sport(?) from the New York Auto Show I believe...it looked pretty legit. Thing is, the 2015 version of the turbocharged 2.0L engine is down on power - 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, thanks to smaller compressor/turbine wheels, which I thought kind of sucked. Not sure why they'd do that, but I would have to imagine its either because of possible reliability concerns (which would raise the question of how reliable OUR cars are) or because they don't want it to be as competitive with the Azera as it is with its current engine configuration.

Also - look at that interior...if I understand the website correctly that I saw it on, it's just a teaser, but am I the only one that thinks that it bears an almost uncanny resemblance to the Optima's interior? The interior is really my biggest complaint with the current Sonata (other than feeling a little cheaper than the Optima). I think it looks a lot nicer than their current interior.

If I can remember correctly it seemed as though the Sonata was a softer riding car. More of a cruiser whereas the Optima just felt sportier.

not only the interior but the front facia and LED's also.. if you look at the side profile there's a resemblance of the Optima as well to the front end...I read that also about the HP... i figured it would be more and not less but the Torque is more so it will get you through the RPM's faster...

the front looks so aggressive more than the Optima IMO....

Yes... But I'm stuck on the 13's. The new sonata has more optima like elements. Maybe they are turning down power and giving the sonata more differentiation from the optima. I thought the Korean car blog reported that the new sonata has preorders and they bumped up the optima redesign schedule. Either way I'll still be in a 2013.

it's beginning to almost be like cellphones . every year seems like a redesign for certain car companies nowadays .

Thats the thing... Before you could buy a car and new 6yrs or so the design would be the same and the aftermarket would put some money in to make great stuff. Now its hold on to your seats. I know the civic and subie boys were upset when they bought those unwanted version and did those mid mid cylce refreshes.

Well .. It's a no go. With the 2015's coming out, they want me to put about 5k down because on the books the "new" optima or sonata is considered 2 years old.
Ain't nobody got time for that. I'm going to keep my LX and wait for my jeep srt8 in 3 more years.
