Another great product from Exled eh Scott , when you mentioned OEM, you mean it actually made for our car and there's a spot for the light to go in to the original light housing correct?

If you look at the pictures there is on my 11 model a hole cut out under the passenger side "footwell" using a t-10 pigtail/socket I inserted the bulb for the lighting to work. On the driver side I bought from Korea the Mobis foot lamp assembly which looks like the first picture I posted. I removed the opaque cover so more light comes through.

No problem your 2011 was made in Korea right? Mine was also. I am interested to see if anyone with models made in the states has the same cutout on their passenger side. Anyone care to chime in with a US built Optima?

Yep, mine was made in Korea as well. I'm curious too if the U.S built has this feature or not so hopefully someone will chime in to answer your question.

Bump!!! Anyone have an answer to this question. Does your 2011-2013 US built models have a hole cut out under the passenger door "footwell" panel? If YES please post year and date.

It is the panel above your feet if you are sitting in your passenger seat/ the panel right below your glove box if you feel around you will feel a hole the size of a zippo lighter
