This morning on the way to work the traction control idiot light is on and the cruise does not work. It started today and I pulled into a gas station and shut it down and the started it back up again. The light was out for a few minutes and then it came back on again and. The cruise does not work anytime. I have not had a chance to look at anything on the car yet. Any ideas? Where do I start??

Dealer.....you could check fuses, but it doesn't sound like a fuse issue, especially if it goes away, then comes back on.
You could also check the brake fluid level....bue either way, the dealer is the way to go IMO.

+1 on the dealer. There are just certain things that you shouldn't ask for help on when you are dealing with a brand new car under a full warranty:rolleyes:

loman...could it be tied to all of that extra crap you added to your car???

I've never had a new car before, so this isn't applicable. With the new bikes however, I usually leave everything stock at least for 3-5K miles. Then, once I'm sure there are no gremlins present, I start adding accessories and doing other mods like intake/exhaust/ecu, etc. Service becomes are real hassle if you have many mods hooked up with lots of finger pointing happening. After a few thousand miles, everything is broken in, and most electrical faults will make themselves apparent. These new cars are so complex, you never really know what effect some electrical modification might make in the long run.

FIXED IT!! Turn out is was the LED tail lights. Yes believe it or not it was the tail lights that caused the cruise control to stop working! After a lot of digging online I found where a guy had the same problem from a new corvette and the dealership could not figure it out for several visits and and they finally found it was the LED tail lights he had installed so I tried it and yep its fixed!

Just goes to show you how any electrical changes can impact the cars computer and BCM. I have heard of this before.

This is why you have to be VERY CAREFUL when doing any electrical mods to a new car today as you never know how the car will react. In this case, someting as simple as a light bulb caused you to pull your hair out and mess with your cruise.

Happy to hear all is good in the world:)

Sorry to bring up on old thread, but I am having this same issue. My traction control light has been coming on and going of for about 2 weeks now. I haven't had time to take it to the dealer. Suddenly, today on the way to work, my cruise stopped working. When I got to work I turned off the car and restarted it. Everything was back to normal! I have made no electrical mods to my car....yet :D. What could this problem be??? Any input would help.

Thanks

If traction control light is on cruise is automatically disabled. So if I were to turn traction off, I would not have cruise. Most cars are like this. So the good news is you only have one problem instead of two :)

Same thing happen to me yesterday and also noticed cruise would not work. Turning off traction control had no effect on the "stuck" warning light. Once I turned the car off & on it cleared. I'll keep an eye on it an check for codes today.

Note: I was monitoring with my OBD BT module and Torque on my phone when this happened. Torque froze and I had to restart the app.

I took it to the dealership and they told me that the traction control for the optima has issues. I bought my car two weeks ago but just a day or two the traction light came on and stayed on. Seems like the LED Lights are the issue but not sure i have to take it back to the dealership and see if they can pinpoint the problem... Sucks if I can't make mods on the car... ?

Do you have stock/non-LED tail lights? And if you do, did you replace the incandescent brake lamp bulbs with LEDs?
