I'd love to know or hear from someone has ever done this: rocking a 17" on SXL, with either 225/55-R17, 215/55-R17, 215/60-R17, or 225/60-R17 (with or without spacer). If you have pics to share it'd be much appreciated too.

I don't care much about appearance, just want to go max for the ride comfort and to reduce road noise. Yes, I know there are touring tires that would eliminate road noise and fit 18" rim at the same time. But what if I have this same kind of tires fitting on 17" rim, so I will have much taller tire wall.

As long as you don't care about handling (which is already a weak point in this car), I do not see a problem other than speedo being off.

My set up with the 11' SX is 18" stock rim (the pizza one) and 225/50-R18 all season Yokohama's, no spacer, no rubbing sofar.
Just want to see if I can go down to 17" rim with more tire wall

Wheel/Tire Size and Offset. Combo's known to work.

Wheel brand/Model: MRR HR10
Wheel size: 20x8.5 Front 20x10 Rear
Wheel offset front: 35 front 40 rear
Tire Brand/Model: Nitto Neo Gen
Tire size: 225/35/20 front 245/30/20
Suspension: D2 coilovers / rolled fenders and trimmed fender liners and maxed neg camber on camber plates in the front. Negative camber rear via stock adjustments
Rubbing: some rubbing while turned hitting bumps on and high speed bumps rubs fender liners / still no rubbing on the back with neg camber adjustment.
