Victim of a good salesman

Here in Western Pennsylvania we do not have that many Kia dealers so I went to a big name, multi-brand dealer who's claim to fame is that they have the best prices and largest volume dealer in PA.

I went in search of a 2012 Sportage SX, no dice. I drove an EX and the dealer worked up some numbers that I didn't like. My main focus was the turbo in the SX.

Here is where the salesman got me - My wife who was with me has been eying up the Optimas since 2011. Myself being a bigger guy (6'5") dismissed a car entirely. The salesman worked the wife angle and got me to test drive the Optima SX he had on the lot.

Long story short, after the test drive, I was in love. This SX was the exact color (Black) had all the options we wanted and all the power.

The salesman drove home the idea of it being better than the sportage. 8 Long hours later the deal was completed.
We still had to wait for the car to be cleaned since it had just come off the delivery truck the night before.

Now I'm addicted to driving this car!

LOL, nice story. :welcome: and congrats!
Yep awesome story glad you got the Optima!
Hahaha but your a victim to a great crime, not many people can say that. Congrats
I have to go back to the dealer next week for a detailing. There was a white stain on the seat (they said it was coffee/creamer). :\

I'm not happy about it and sent an email to the dealer owner. I'm trying to get them to throw in the rear bumper applique.
Think they will throw some free stuff at me?
What were they thinking allowing anybody to bring drinks into a brand new car before it is sold?
Cripes 8 hours at a car dealership sounds like a headache! But glad you got a new optima out of it!
I talked to the salesman today, dropping it off next week. They are supposed to do a full detail on the interior...
Issues like this make me angry and not want to deal with these scammers.
This thread went from happy customer to angry customer quickly...What makes them a scammer? Because there's a stain on your seat that they are going to get rid of? I know it sucks...but that hardly makes them a scammer.
And you're expecting them to throw a free rear bumper applique? LOL. You were supposed to ask for that before your signed your contract ;-)
I must say, I'm a bit confused at the sudden anger over what could be a minor issue. I'd reserve final judgement on whether they are "scammers" until after they do their magic.
Just clean it mate!!!...What's the issue? Cor...all that hassle over a mark? Stone the crows! Enjoy that bloody turbo motor....the one we cannot get here in Australia!! LOL!
They offered a full detail, that's them taking the extra step to make things right. Good for them.

Some dealers would tell you that you're SOL, it was sold as-is.
I have a bad taste in my mouth from previous experiences with auto repair. I feel like something will be more wrong when I get the car back. I have been enjoying the car. Put 400 miles on already!

I asked for few stuff before signing too. No dice. I'm a virgin at the new at buying thing.

This sounds like the old "jack" joke where a guy drives his car through the back roads in the country side. It's raining and late at night, miles from nowhere and he gets a flat tire. He goes to the trunk to get the jack to change the tire, but the jack can't be found. He thinks for a minute and realizes that he passed a fam house a few miles back, so he says to himself, I'll take that walk through the rain knock on the door, introduce myslef and ask them to borrow a jack. There's no reason why they won't lend me the jack. Hey they may even give me a ride back to the car. Well he gets about a mile into his trip and the weather is getting worse. He says, boy, why in the world would they want to give me a lift back to my car in this weather? Another half mile or so he says, perhaps they would be a bit taken back by a stranger knocking on their door late at night in bad weather and why would they even lend me a jack when they don't even know me? He gets to the driveway of the farm house and says, I bet they are going to be pretty angry having a stranger knock on their door. Who know, I could even be facing a shot gun when they answer the door. Well he knocks on the door and this very nice gentleman opens the door and before the farmer can say anything, the guy yells take your jack and shove it up your a**.

Moral of the story. Don't get yourself worked up over nothing.

Oh! Speaking of the "jack". Anyone buying a new Kia or anyother car should make sure it comes with a spare and a jack or bargan for one. I never thoguht of looking until someone brought it up on this site. My salesman swore he never checked but assumed they all had one since the previous year model had one.

You're getting your car detailed...there is not auto repair being done. Enjoy your free detailing.
Jim Shorkey Kia is the dealer.

Beard,
Mine came with the kit as well; no tire or jack. It makes the car lighter and saves some expenses and more trunk space. It's more and more common with 2012-2013+ vehicles. I noticed your signature pic has the actual KIA "K" type logo badge. I just ordered the premium ones to install on mine. Are you going to swap yours out as well?
