1 AudioControl LCQ-1 6-channel line output converter

Also, they are mounting and hard-wiring my 9500ix radar detector and smartcord to my rearview mirror.
I dropped the car off Monday evening (25 February 2013) and was scheduled to pick it up on Wednesday (27 February 2013). Due to a hardware issue I was not able to receive the vehicle on Wednesday the 27th.

Today, Thursday (28 February 2013) I was called at lunchtime to listen to the system. When I got to the shop to inspect the car, the trim for my driver's side front window was removed. This was in preparation for the hard-wiring of the radar detector..which I then found out wasn't going to be installed until Friday (1 March 2013). We listened to some Black Eyed Peas and the sound just wasn't right...It just didn't sound good...The front speakers and front door speakers sounded great with no distortion..but something was wrong coming from the back...There were rattles, hums, and vibrations which shouldn't be there at all...especially for the price I paid...This was during my lunchtime. Mike said he needed to fix a few things and told me to come back after work.
Thursday (28 February 2013). Mike calls me at work and tells me to head down after work so we can have another listen. I get down there and we jump in and crank it up..There are less vibrations and rattles but something still isn't right. The sound upfront and in the front doors sounds great but still can't figure out what's up. Mike says for me to take the car home and take the sound system through its paces. I agree, and am about to pull it out of the garage but it won't shift out of park. Apparently, there is a setting on the center console which needed adjustment due to the bass knob that was installed in the center console. Mike fixes it, we drive around the building to make sure there is nothing else which would prevent me from driving it home. Mike agrees to build a new subwoofer box and install the parts for the radar detector tomorrow. We agree that I will come back tomorrow to finish it up.
On the ride home from Boomers Audio I noticed the following issues.
1) I cannot fade between front and rear.
2) The Navigation voice is very low, from the front left tweeter, even after I maxed it out.

I contacted Mike about these issues and is reply about the fading problem is;
"There is no fade, the factory amp has a 3 way system that is crossed over ee have to sum all the outputs to get a full nge signal. We can turn the rears up a little more to match the front."

His reply about the Navigation Voice setting is;
"GPS I will check into"
I am sure Mike will figure this all out. He and his wife Sandy are some stand up people and are jumping through their butts to help me out so I am not worried too much.
I've personally known Mike and Sandy for about 20 years and they are great people. Mike and I worked together at Car Toys for awhile (I was there from '92 - '01) and I managed the store on Sheridan for a few years. I always tried to get him to pick up Rockford when I was the Manufactures Rep for RF from 2001 to 2009. Lol. He's a good guy...they'll get it figured out.

I'm going to be doing a system in mine sometime soon. Since I'm still in good graces with the RF company, that's what I'll be running. 5-channel Punch amp, 6.75" Power series components up front, 6.5" Power 2-way in rear doors, one of the 3SIXTY.3 processors, and either dual 8" or 10" subs in the rear deck. No box....either free air or aperiodic membrane. Not sure yet. Oh, stock non-UVO head unit and make it sound good. Ha

Great looking car you have, by the way.
Man thats going to be nice when it's all done. Get some pics up of the box when u can.

one more thing fix the Enkei spelling in your sig, i look at that all the time in your sig lol
I would not change anything on my infinti radio, it rocks!

Montero, you may be surprised at how much more incredible it sounds when you pull the wimpy stock speakers out, tune the amp correctly, and install a subwoofer.

Even with mine not "all up round" it still sounds 10x better than stock Infinity.

Please tell me your going to give Mike and Sandy some love and give them the business. I am sure they would take great care of you.
I wish I could but I live in Central AR and Mike knows I can do all of the work myself! ha. It's funny that he was a customer of mine when I moved to Tulsa in August of 1990 and was managing "The Phonograph", when they were at 51st & Memorial, and here we are 23 years later with him owning a store. :D I just can't pay retail for any home or car audio anymore after being in the business for so long; trust me, I much prefer getting the deals I get direct from the manufacturer. ;)
My infinity radio in my SX has 8 speakers and a subwoofer that shakes all my windows and mirrors, seriously.... I just read a optima review that says the radio is one you would find in 6 digit priced cars... Lol.

I'm sure there's better, but how much better..... And just the thought of ripping out door panels etc does not sit well with me... May cause other issues, rattling ....

All infinity systems have 8 speakers, if you remove that center front speaker completely, remove the wimpy 8" sub completely, and replace the 6 remaining speakers with a quality speaker you will notice a big difference. Then you get an enclosed subwoofer w/ amp and you will be blown away.

That center front speaker dwarfs out the sound coming from the other 4 speakers in the front (doors and dash). Removing it or unplugging it is a huge difference.

The stock subwoofer is junk!! No argument is needed. It is trash.

Our doors are incredibly easy to remove and reinstall. There will be NO problems with rattles etc when reinstalling. Kia did an incredible job allowing us access to our door panels.
Update...Friday 3/1/2013 ...Due to parts (radar detector mirror mount) not shipping Mike had to reschedule until Monday 3/4/2013. Mike plans to correct the sub-woofer, tweak in the rear door speakers, and hard-wire/mount the 9500ix on Monday.

He is going to give me his personal vehicle to use while mine is finished.

You picked the exact Polk speakers I was considering when I get my Optima! (MM6501 and 651)
Where are you going to place the component tweeters? In the dash or somewhere else close to height of the driver?
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your set up and hearing about it.
Update..3/4/2013....round 2 with troubleshooting and correcting the following;
1) NAV voice is very low although it is turned all the way up.
2) Subwoofer has a resonance emanating which doesn't sound that well
3) The rear door speakers need to be adjusted to be on the same level with the front part of the vehicle.
4) The Radar detector mirror mount and wiring are going to be installed.

I turned the Optima in this morning to Mike and he gave me his personal vehicle for use while I receive mine back from him. Stay tuned.

Mojo, the replacement tweeters are in the stock location and sound incredible.
I received the vehicle this morning from Mike Hudson of Boomers. Mr. Hudson went above and beyond in this installation. My mind is blown at how incredible the sound is and the attention to detail Mike applied to this install.

All issues were corrected and the audio in this ride is completely mind blowing and it's all thanks to Mike and Sandy Hudson of Boomer's Audio. I will post pictures this weekend.

If you own a vehicle in the Tulsa area then this is where you NEED to go for all your audio needs.

Next is to buy drl's and have them install those. 8)
7 months later and the sound is even better now. I highly recommend Boomer's audio!!!
