Hi all. Recently developed a strange rhythmic noise coming from the serpentine belt/ pulley area. Almost sounds like a rubbing or creaking and it is in rhythm with the belt turning about a second apart. It sounds like it is coming from one of the pulleys and not the belt itself... I cannot tell if it is the idler pulley, the crankshaft pulley or waterpump etc .. Car runs fine and no CEL.. Would a bad crankshaft pulley show more symptoms then just a noise? Am getting it looked at soon just looking for some thoughts. It is not a belt squeal more like a rhythmic creak.. I will try to get a video clip up tomorrow.

Idler pulleys are the wear item, I'd suspect it. Let's see what mechanic finds upon close inspection.

As above, idler pulleys as well as tensioner can become worn and sound off.
Easiest way to check, remove belt and check all pulleys.
