Hello haven't posted on here in such a long time let me get right to my question :grin:.
I have a hybrid optima with about 85,000miles on it and just recently my volume controls on my steering wheel including the up/down to skip tracks are dead. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement to fix this issue?
Another issue i'm having is i'm getting the airbag indication on my dash and i've checked the connections under the driver seat and everything seems to be in place, anyone have this problem?

As far as the airbag, I am not really sure. I know when installed my UNAVI, I forgot to hook up the connection behind the center console that shows if someone is sitting in the passenger seat or not. So if you just did some kind of work back there, that would be a good place to start. If not, I would say its time to check with the dealer. Airbags aren't something you want to mess around with. At least I don't. LOL. Maybe one of the members who are Kia Techs can chime in. Good luck.

Thanks eric for the link and I haven't installed anything new this car is pretty much the same from when I purchased it. I've tried clearing it by disconnecting the battery and i've checked the fuses and they all seem to be fine.

No problem. Airbags can be a bit scary. Most everybody on here will work on every part and system on these cars but I wouldn't ever try and do anything with the airbags. We get real antsy around them when they haven't gone off during accidents and we have to extricate people. I have seen several videos of firefighters getting thrown out of a car that they were working on due to an accident. But like I said, maybe someone else will chime in here and give some input as well.

Without knowing what the code thats in the system its kind of difficult to help you out. Best advice would be to take it to your dealer and have them scan it.

However since you are saying your steering wheel controls are no longer working and you have the airbag light on there is a chance you clockspring has failed.

Again best advice is take it in and get it scanned to know whats going on.

I have a problem where a select few of my steering wheel buttons won’t work like the miles until I go empty, my horn, and my cruise control. My volume and call commands on the wheel still work though. I first noticed it when I was driving in high traffic and needed my horn.
The only thing I can think of that may be related is meeting resistance when turning the wheel one day. I tried to turn a corner and the wheel almost stuck when I tried turning; I was going to be hit if I didn't do anything, so I forced it and it popped. Does anyone know what the cause is?

'Clockspring' that's what the doughnut like device was called. (see my above 2012 KIA Optima post problem was).
