Well, I had people in my circle warn me about Quebec dealerships. Being from Ontario I made a deposit for a 2014 Optima SX Turbo. Long story...in a nutshell I really wanted this one. Pick up time was set at 3pm carved in stone. I took a 5hr train ride, waited 3 more hours and guess what? Surprise surprise, car wasn't ready. I waited months for this specific car so what's another 15 minutes right? I walked out of there at 5:30pm with guess what? No car!

The reasons being;
1. Unacceptable detailing of the car - clearly a rush job
2. An advertised piece being a block heater did not come with the car. Although the dealership stated it was an error in the advertisement, they willingly were going to install one. Good on them.

Bill of sale was not signed nor the bank draft released.

I didn't want a rush job done on the two items above so they offered to have the car ready first thing in the morning. But guess what? They're not filling the tank since they're installing the block heater. Ever heard of a dealership not filling up for a new customer? Not me. Am I being too picky?...just tell me!

We'll see how this unfolds in the morning when I disclose the 'Platinum' dealership.

Positives; 1. Much needed coffees were provided. 2. A ride to my destination was given by the salesguy given I was suppose to be driving my car out! 3. The test drive!

What a horror story Once you get the Optima you will forget about pickup .Enjoy the ride good luck. PS if you moved to Vancouver you wouldn't have to worry about block heaters :)

Picked her up this morning. Finally.

Back seating area of was not cleaned having specifically asked for it. Gas wasn't filled, one of the fobs had been misplaced later found, block heater cap covering the prongs wasn't even on. I had to ask for electrical to secure it for th tim being. I will avoid Boisvert Kia at all costs from this point forward....lets hope I can. It was a terrible overall experience. If I didn't love the car so much, I would have walked....

that's wrong. It should be on the window sticker and say full tank of gas included. I don't know any kia that takes 75 dollars to fill on empty
He's talking Canadian dollars. It costs us over $70.00 to fill the tank in an Optima.
Current avg price in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) 70 Litres X $1.07 = $74.90

Lucky you in Ontario, out west here in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver and area) we're about $1.22 per litre. :)

For the Americans, this would work out to $4.62 a gallon.

To Floger, yes yes yes absolutely inform Kia Canada of this. That dealership doesn't sound like they are going for repeat business and as that indirectly damages Kia's reputation they would likely want to know. And hey, you might get some free oil changes out of it.

Wow. Just wow. That is absolutely a horror story if I've ever heard one, considering I've worked at dealerships for over 5 years. On the positive side, I'm glad you got the car, however, the rest of this story has me shaking my head in disbelief.

First off, the full tank thing. 100% of brand new cars are to be filled completely. Apparently the dealer gets a kickback from the manufacturer or something on this. It's not actually costing the dealer money to fill the new cars.

Most places I've worked, a Demo will also be filled up, but all other pre-owned cars should leave the with either a minimum 1/4 tank, or about $20-30 worth of fuel. A full tank in a used car is usually requested by the buyer and worked into the deal. In my case, as a Lot Manager, my used car manager specifically tells me when a sold used car is required to have a full tank, so that I can go fill it before I clean it for delivery.

As for the dealer installing the block heater, it's nice that they honoured it, due to claiming incorrect advertising, but that's no reason to screw you out of a tank of gas. I bet that block heater cost the dealer maybe $40-50 at cost, if that, and up to an hour's shop time to install. Let's say the whole thing cost the dealer about $100, and they're crying over a tank of gas when they're already making a decent profit on a 2 year old used car. Unbleiveable.

I have a good friend who lives in Montreal, and he has told me some very ugly stories of how he gets treated at some dealers, so if it makes you feel any better, you're not alone in the world.

I'm glad you sent the car back due to an unsatisfactory detail. But remember when I said if you send it back they'll be like "screw this guy" and probably not do anything? Sounds like that's exactly what happened. However, there is NO excuse for a rush detail or an unsatisfactory detail, as there should be a MINIMUM 4 hour window between vehicle prep and delivery. I have deliveries on my to-do board up to a week before they have to go out. A brand new car delivery should take 1 detailer up to an hour to complete. A used car detail should be an hour and a half up to 3 hours, depending on condition, and if the car has previously been lot cleaned. There's no excuse why your car was delivered in a piss poor, rushed state of mess.

Also unacceptable to keep you waitint the way you did and not having any of the paperwork ready. All this stuff gets rolling once the finance approval in place. There's no reason why you should not be able to take delivery of your car within 24 hours of getting a finance approval.

I'll be happy to say screw that dealer, and that also goes along with almost all of my Kia dealership experiences. The only decent dealer I've dealt with that was actually helpful, respectful and courteous was Eastside Kia in Calgary.

Well Mr. Clean...that explains why I may not have been given a full tank. It wasn't a brand new car rather a '14. My friend working at Kia Corpoarte verified that tanks should be filled before a customer leaves. Regardless, there were multiple things that just bothered me through the process. Basically I felt like they wanted my cash now get the **** outta here. I've made my peace with it. I've drafted my letter to Kia Canada and forwarding it to the dealership manager. I just wanna get on with learning this car! Just love this car. My neighbour has a 'C300 and had a hoot ripping the Optima.

That's the case with most dealers. Give us your money, get out, and onto the next one. You need to watch the Badger car commercials on Youtube. I've worked at dealers like every example in the commercials lol.

Best thing is to send off that letter to Kia Canada, because without complaints or criticism, how do they expect their dealerships to improve? Kia has a horrible customer satsifaction rating, because the dealers and employees still have the bargain basement car attitude, whereas the products have moved extremely upscale, and the service and experience is being neglected.

A real shame really. I agree with your last statement which is the reason I bought the **** car. Let's see how Kia Canada reacts to the letter. The dealership finance manager responded to an email I sent the night before receiving the car (I was suppose to have already received the car that day). His response was a full 24 hrs after I left knowing **** well I was driving back to Ontario. I responded to his email with a couple of short sentences making reference to the experience. That everything was well documented and a letter was being drafted to Kia Canada. I forwarded that email to the dealership manager, sales guy and dealership owner which I managed to find. I got a call shortly thereafter from the salesman who sold me the car wanting to explain myself. I basically told him I was through speaking to them and to await the forwarded email to Kia Canada. We shall see...

Man, you got a really bad dealership...and they are not all like that for sure. By the way, the car is supposed to have the tank full of gasoline at no charge. When I bought my car 2 years ago, that was Kia Canada policy...
