Pressure from Fuel Tank Pump

Hello! Still trying to fix my missfire on my '13 2.4I GDi. I have my gauge hooked up just before the HPFP, the first time I tested it with the engine warm and idling, I was seeing the needle jump between ~250 and 340 kPa. After stopping and starting the engine, as well as making sure all the air was purged from my gauge, I saw it jump between 380 and 550 kPa. And when I say jump I mean with every revolution. I suppose that part makes sense, given how the HPFP is supposed to work, but I tried watching a few videos online and none of those showed their gauge jumping as much as mine. Is something wrong, or am I the problem?

The title of your post mentions the fuel tank pump, but your comment seems to describe the HPFP not the fuel tank pump. Which is correct?

Can you describe details of your pressure gauge?

Have you tried a scanner tool to electronically check what the car says the pressure is? I'm not certain whether that number is available on the scan tool, but I'm guessing it might be.

I am connected to the low pressure line, going from the fuel tank to the engine.

I reran the test a few times for sanity sake, and am now getting consistently 460-515kPa. Oddly enough, the book seems to contradict itself. One chapter says it should be 338-348, another part says 495-505.

So, I think everything is 'close enough'. But I rented another gauge from the 'zone in case mine is off. We'll see if the 3rd one doesn't leak.

As for scan tools, mine doesn't read the low pressure on this car. Just the high.
