I just checked the oil level on my K5GT.
It's in the middle of the dipstick.
Granted, my car is on a slight incline where the front end is facing downwards. Has anyone checked their oil level on a brand new car?

So I moved the car onto the street where it's level. Let it sit for 10 mins and checked again. The level is lower. I should mention that the engine is cold. Car hasn't moved since yesterday morning.

So, took it for a spin to warm it up.
Let it sit for 5 mins and checked again.
It's a bit lower than the halfway mark.

Hey, it's a Kia, maybe it's a start of another class action suit.
Have never had a new car use oil, so just top it off and see what happens in the future.

I highly doubt it used oil in its first 200kms.
Im guessing it's a case of it being delivered a "safe" amount of oil and the dealer never checked prior to delivery. Will swing by the dealer tomorrow so they can top off.

Well, you never mentioned the mileage, and at @ 125 miles, I certainbly wouldn't need to post a problem, just consider it's a Kia
and came from one of the crappy stealerships.

Not worried it burnt oil. Just wondering if kia usually delivers cars with min level.

The problem is you don't know the initial condition.

It's likely the initial condition was an oil level identical to what you are seeing, so that there is no issue.

I'm sure there's no issue. Just wondering if it's common practice that kia shipped the car with low oil. By low I mean a bit less than half on the dipstick.

Yeah no issue but very strange, no?

I've read the same thing on the auto trans, is not "Full" to the point it will drip slowly out of check bolt.

I guess every little ounce they save.....

Take the vehicle to a Kia service rep at the dealer. Have someone there show you how to correctly read the dipstick marks.

I know how to correctly read the dipstick.
Thanks for the advice.
Brought it to the dealer and they topped it off. I'm guessing they didn't check the level during the pdi.
