My lease is ending soon... 2014 Optima SX-T vs 2014 Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium

So, I'll be trading in my 2012 SX this year. I stopped by the Kia dealer and checked out the 14's. I don't really like the rear lights and the "Turbo" on the sides (why would they do that?). Looking at other cars like the Fusion Titanium and Gen Coupe. Everything else is out because I require front leg room of 44"+.
I'm listing the things I'll be giving up going to the Gen Coupe...
- Same HP, but Gen Coupe requires premium fuel (?)
- 4 door to 2 door (don't care)
- no turn signals on side mirrors
- no heated/cooled seats (this might be the deal breaker)
- no driver seat memory

Anything else?

You will miss your Optima a lot when you get into Gen Coupe 2.0T. Less features, smaller, less comfortable. It will be more fun to drive though. If you're going to go with Gen Coupe, at least go with the 3.8
are the Gen coupes faster than the Optima?

The 2.0 is the same engine as our Optima but the 3.8 is a quicker with 348 hp, and you can get them in manual as well. Even with the 2.0 the gen coupe will be faster due to less weight and more importantly manual speed.
just traded my genesis 2.0t for the optima! I have the optima about week and half and gotta say LOVE the Optima! However I really miss the torque that the genesis had, total different animal, not that the genesis is all that faster but it handles like nobodies business like it's on rails and is just begging to be thrown into a drift! The only reason I got rid of the genesis was due to the last NY winter! the genesis SUCKED in the snow!
The Gen Coup is also getting a redesign for 2015 so you might want to keep that in mind. I'm looking forward to see what they do with it. Not a big fan of the fusion for some reason. The front looks good but the rear and at a certain angle the car looks bloated. Nothing else in the price range interests me at all really.

I'd say to go with the Optima. The Genesis is lacking in a lot of creature comforts. I also had struggled with this choice when I tried to choose between them and creature comforts won out because I spend a lot of time commuting.
Coupes FTW. My last car was a coupe and my future cars will be coupes. I have no need for a backseat or trunk, so buying a sedan was really an exercise in futility for me. Its also a major plus that coupes are more fun to drive, but the drawback is that they tend to be more expensive.
The Gen and the Optima actually weigh about the same. I considered the Gen last year as my second car. Ended up with the Hyundai Veloster turbo. With a few mods, its as fast or faster than the stock 2.0T Gen. And just as fun to drive. I still prefer my Optima for long distance cruising.

This is my first 4 door car as well. However I never use the back seat of the trunk. Would be sick if they made a 2 dr Optima.
It's not as exciting as an Optima but I'm confident you'd fit in a Passat and with the V6 you'll hit 60 in the 5s.

I am wondering what they would suggest on the Genesis forum?
I went from a 2010 GenCoupe 2.0T to a 2013 GenCoupe 2.0T to the 2013 Optima SX-T. Until I had the Optima, the GenCoupe was the best car I ever had. I liked the Optima better. Much more comfortable. Both cars (both rebadged) got a LOT of attention. I really missed RWD, though.

It's a no-brainer for me now. I have to have 4 doors. Both for my family, and because I end up taking adults places quite a bit due to the nature of my job. But, I wanted RWD, and more horsepower, so I just made the jump to an Infiniti Q50 Premium.

FWIW, the GenCoupe certainly *feels* faster. If you can swing the 3.8, that might be enough to make the rest of the concessions worth it. If not, I'd stick with the Optima. You can always replace the fender vent/markers.
I test drove a 2013 Gen Coupe 3.8 GT today. Nice ride, lots of power and has a bit of a rumble/purr to the engine. They have to have at least 15 2013's left on the lot. Trucar actually had an odd alert on the left because they are discounting them so much. $34k car for $25k'ish. I should have no problem moving to one with the same price/month. They have 2 on the lot in the color I want. Heh.

Thanks all for the responses. I'll check out the gencoupe forum as suggested.

I'll probably be back in '16 or '17 for my next Optima. =)
I'm back!! Couldn't do it. Traded in for another Optima. The cooled seats and MPG were the main factors.
