i really don't know what to make of this at this point. so on March 5th, i went to Autoworld Kia. had my heart set on an Optima SX, took the test drive, was decided. but i said that i needed the car within 3 weeks, because the lease of my current car isn't up until April 1st, so we come up with numbers and the numbers were ok, went over color, and i said CORSA BLUE, with the tech and premium package. the guy came back from his managers and said, "ohhh great news, we will get your corsa blue between now and 3 weeks", so they told me, put $500 down as a refundable deposit to hold the $31,000 car. i said, fine, gave them my card, took 500 bucks away from me. so i get a call in the middle of the week, and it went something like this, Kia rep: "ok, i got some great news and i got some bad news, your car came in today, BUT IT IS NOT IN THE CORSA BLUE COLOR, THE VIN NUMBERS WERE MIXED UP." i was extremely furious, and then he said "it's a SATIN SILVER one." i was thinking O_O you have got to be kidding me!! how is it that they hold my money for a specific car that I want, and that they promised me was coming in time, BUT, they get the wrong car. i don't believe this VIN number mixup, i believe they were just trying to make an easy sale. so then they tell me that they are going crazy "trying" to find a Corsa Blue somewhere around the tristate area! the car is awesome regardless, but the corsa blue was the color that i really fell in love with, and i have to live with this car for 3 years! i know it sounds frivolous to be upset over a certain color, but they kept me in anticipation for MY car! what should i do? confront them, and ask them to find me the **** corsa blue? or should they knock off another $25 off the $500 a month that i will be paying from May and on. that's right $500 bucks a month for that car, NOT MY corsa blue. i am never an angry person, but those guys at the dealership and i will have a nice chat tomorrow when i pick up A car.

I would see if they'll let you drive the Satin Metal one until they can get you a Corsa.

Kling,

First IMO there is nothing wrong with wanting what you like. A car is a very large purchase one that depreciates quickly as you continue to pay for it. If you wanted to be anal about color...you should be. At the end of the day you have to live with your end result....not the salesmen at the dealership.

No offense, but I think that price is high anyway...even if they had the blue for you as promised. Teflon just posted an awesome deal (in the anyone bought an turbo yet thread) in Pennsylvania for a fully loaded SX for $28,520! Granted it's a Platinum Graphite...not a blue. My point is that dealership is charging too much and you shouldn't have to settle. IMO the Satin is a beautiful car....but I still find it too pricey.

Personally I'd disengage somehow from this process. You did not get the right product you ordered and its not your fault THEY SCREWED UP(if they did truly screw up...I just think they lied). If they did screw up, that's there cost of doing business and making a mistake. You have not taken delivery on the car. Unless you signed some paperwork. Have them refund your money and start the search elsewhere. Again, I don't have all the details of your issue...but from what you provided in your post. This is what it looks like.

Start your search elsewhere. PA is not so far from you.....PM Teflon...is if that car is still available. Perhaps you can check out that PG. I purchased a PG and love it even though I was originally bent on a Bronze Metallic EX Turbo. $28,520 versus $31,000 for the same car is a big difference. If you are going to settle for a color you dont want at least save some money.

Sorry, I'll get off my stool now. Just trying to help out. All the best and keep us posted.

i was thinking the same thing at one point, but i don't think they would do that, unless they could give it to me as a loaner if they are 100% sure that the corsa blue would be in soon. hmmm, maybe i might just try that

thanks for your insight as well bronco. i shouldn't have to settle, and yes i am anal about color, and agree with everything you just said. i don't have much time to go elsewhere, but i'll see how it goes tomorrow.
Well, they know they have you over a barrel....
- Does this mean this was deliberate? unknown
- Are you OK with the color and paying for something you aren't completely happy about?
- I would certainly bargain with them, but don't focus on the monthly, but the overall $$$
They won't loan you it, i can almost be 100% certain as they would have to title it and with the miles would then be a USED vehicle. Worth a shot thou.

k after doing much research on my own, because that stupid dealership said they "CAN'T FIND ANY CORSA BLUES ANYWHERE" i flagged one down in NJ, gonna give them a call later, and set demands, because i feel cheated in every which way. and yeah worth a shot at gettin a loaner from them for a little bit if the car can't come in on time and whatnot.
You sad you paid by credit card. I can't imagine the C/C company not agreeing to you stopping payment.
I would go in on Sat. and tell them you have spoken to you C/C company and will not pay the $500. I would only deal with the person in charge. Tell them I will take the silver for this much and that is it.

I gave them my debit to swipe so they could HOLD my 500 bucks, as a deposit, it's refundable, but i'm going to use it as the down payment anyway, and it's a lease.

I FOUND UP TO 5 OPTIMA SX CORSA BLUES FULLY LOADED IN NEW JERSEY, AND THAT BAD DEALERSHIP SAID THEY LOOKED EVERYWHERE FOR 1 AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANY, THEY ARE DEFINITELY LYING TO ME, THEY ARE GONNA HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE TOMORROW!
Just a heads up, for things like this - if you have a credit card, always use that over Debit as there is a signifigant difference of coverage/protection between the two types of cards.

For a lease, maybe the silver won't be as bad - but not my car or $$ paying for it!

Walk away, FAST! For this type of purchase you should get just what you want.

i'm gonna give 'em h.e.l.l. tomorrow, problem is, the car that i am giving back has to be returned to Paragon Acura, and that KIA dealership is able to give back the car to Paragon Acura. i think i could get what i want tomorrow, after all, the customer is always right!

from reading your situation regarding the Corsa Blue Optima and the Kia Dealership, I suggest you stay away from them if you believe they've lied to you about not finding the Corsa Blue Optimas you wanted.

Out of all the years Kia has been selling cars, this is the worst time for them to not get along with customers. After all Kia has started to emerge and is off to a great start, screwing that up can be bad on them. You will get what you want, in the end they want your money and they need you sale to go on their stats.

thanks, btw, update for this thread, i am currently in negotiations with a new jersey dealership that has 3 Optima SX's in Corsa Blue, so if they could carry over the same payment, then i will be picking up what i want tomorrow, but no guarantees right now. have to wait a bit for the OK by them, then i take the 2 hour trip down to south jersey. i'm kind of shocked the dealerships here in New York aren't as nice as the jersey dealerships. but hopefully it works out, because i called up the lying dealership and said i found 3 corsa blue SX's in jersey, and they said they will check and call me back. they called me back and said "we have not seen any corsa blues anywhere on the east coast....blah blah blah" and i found 2 more at another jersey location, and a couple in the pennsylvania area, yet that arrogant dealer keeps saying there aren't any anymore O_O. so glad i researched and called that jersey kia dealership, they in fact have 3 of the corsa blues!! for real! so i'm on standby at the moment.

I'm sorry about all the problems you're having. I would definitely not buy the car there. One thing you said about the lease is you have to return it to the certain dealership. Are you sure about that? Did you read the lease agreement? I don't have an Acura, but on the 2 leases I've done before, I was able to turn the car in to any dealer of that make. On my GMC, I can actually turn it into any GM dealer. There is an 800 number you call and you tell them where you dropped it off. I would look into that. Also. If your credit is decent, you can definitely get a lease better than $500 a month. I would work on getting the car cheaper wherever you go. Don't let them know you need to get into a new car. They will use that against you.

well guys, i hope everyone enjoys their optimas and optima turbos. it's not my time for an optima sx yet. they checked my credit, and it wasn't so good, so KIA didn't want to bother with me. there goes 3 weeks of planning and 3 months of research. i will be picking up yet another Acura TL on tuesday. this time the 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD, gotta say goodbye to my beloved 2008 Acura TL Type S. since i have a flawless record with Acura for 10 years, i'm getting that car for only 40 bucks more than what i would have paid for the optima sx!! O_O sorry everyone, but i have no establishment with KIA and possibly never will. i still think that optima sx is some awesome car, i hope it takes over the mid size market, much better than accord, camry and altima, but i'm stuck with my loyalty to Acura since they keep the great credit i had 10 years ago, carried over to now. i just want to thank everyone for helping me on all the issues i've had, the questions i've asked, and things i've said. u all are very nice people and hope that you all thoroughly enjoy your Optimas, it's one h.ell of a car!:)

Well that sucks!

I for one really enjoyed your contributions to this and other forums.

Our loss is certainly a gain for the Acura forums that I am sure you will be frequenting.

Happy trails.
