Just saw this on Reddit.... it seems legit even though the website seems a bit unfinished. For example, the Update Guide and FAQ sections are empty.

You have to download and install a Windows program, and from that you select your car and it downloads the maps/firmware. What I can't tell is what version it is actually downloading to confirm it's different from what my car already has.

Can't say I'd be readily willing to try this but I'd imagine the reason behind the $25 cost that some of us were willing to pay in order to receive the latest UVO software/firmware version is to cover the cost of the SD card and shipping/handling costs; if/when the free download option becomes available then discussion about trying to obtain a free version via the method described by OP will be a moot point.

Also, I am already on the latest version so even if the method mentioned by OP does indeed work, it would at best do nothing for my UVO and at worse corrupt my existing UVO firmware.
