I have a 2012 Kia optima ex and recently my fog lights stopped working. High beams and low beams are working just fine. The fog lights would come on with the right turn signal on but would not come on any other time. I read that it could be the switch gone bad and replaced the turn signal stalk. Fog lights are still not working and now they don’t even come on with the right turn signal on. The fog light indicator on the dash does not come on either when they are turned on. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Sounds like the same issue I and several others had. It is your multifunction switch and needs replacing. Here is a linky to a repair video.....cost me $65 to fix it.
Before you do it though, check to see if it the fuse first.

Hope the bulbs aren't blown, but I've always seen the multifunction switch correct the problem,
but if that didn't work, need to start with a multimeter from the fogs back. Also check that the
grounds are in good order, they can also be checked with a MM.

Time to do what Turbonut suggested. It is the same thing an electrical auto tech would have to do, painstaking but how else can this problem be traced down?

Okay so using a multimeter, starting at the fog lights and working your way back. What all would I need to test with the multimeter? Never done this before so I’m not quite sure.
Also, would you happen to know if there is a relay in the fuse box under the hood that controls the fog lights? I was told to check that as well but not sure which one would be for fog lights and I didn’t see one labeled for that. From what I’ve gathered there is no specific fuse for the fog lights either.. is that correct?

The fog light fuse is in the cabin fuse box. There is an older post in the forums showing the location.
I’ve checked the fuse that you are referring to and there are no issues there. I’m wondering if there is a relay that controls the fog lights that could need to be replaced. Do you know if there is and if so, which one would it be?
