2013 Kia Optime EX 2.4L non-hybrid 114k miles from Ohio

So I tried to replace my thermostat and it’s leaking from the thermostat housing cover (#22 on picture) at the bottom of it. I tried two new thermostat/gaskets and even the old one, still leaking. I was replacing this preventatively since I changed the oil cooler and had the coolant drained and now regret it. I’m going to try a thermostat from a Kia dealer and see if that makes a difference along with a new #22. There are no visible cracks or anything.
Any other suggestions as to why this is happening? I saw several comments on YouTube videos saying they had the same problem but no one posted solutions.

Try and do some preventive maintenance and end up with a problem, never fails with plastic crap. Not too much one can say, other than the 'stat needed to be
centered correctly in the housing before being bolted down, so check flatness of the thermostat cover surface, as well as the plastic surface on the housing to
make certain no damage.

I had the same thing happen to me. There is a raised triangle shape on the thermostat and a recessed slot on the plastic housing on the side closest to the engine. The raised part needs to sit in there properly. If not it will leak.
