I have a 2014 optima 2.0 L and recently noticed coolant leaking on driver-side. I believe it’s coming from the thermostat housing and running down the trans on the backside. It will only leak on cold start and stops when it gets warm. Doesn’t leak while sitting overnight. Could it be a cracked thermostat housing? Anyone have any issues? Thanks

Never had one apart, but believe they use a seal rather than a gasket, and if this is the case, probably when cold the seal contracts and when hot expands, and after many years it just takes the shape of the area, just "sets" and can't recover. Had this on my RX7 Turbo a few times over the 30 years, changed seal/O Ring and no problems until the next time, maybe 10 years later.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to check it out. Not a big deal now. It’s my spare car. Wondering if it’s because it’s sits most of the time. I should use it more
