I have a 2017 optima LX and recently it started acting weird, when I open the trunk, it doesn’t show on the screen that it’s open and the light in the trunk wont turn on. Ive tried disconnecting the battery and that doesn’t seem to fix it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I was going to say check the fuse, but there are other items on that circuit e.g. fuel filler door and relay, trunk relay, etc then thought it might be in the switch itself, so in checking for the switch components, stumbled on to the following, so give it a try:

Nice to see the video show there is that lever to activate when you are troubleshooting the light. What does that spring control, and why does stretching it fix the problem?

Hello,
My daughter's Kia Optima 2018 was doing the same as your car. After replacing the trunk light the issue was the same. Then the trunk opened and would not close one day. I ordered a trunk latch on Amazon and replaced it myself. It only took me about 20 minutes to replace it. Then everything started working again. The dashboard showed the trunk open and the trunk light worked. Replace the trunk latch to resolve the issue. Hope this help you.
