I just bought a 2015 Optima, she is a beauty.
Why is the glove box cooled?
I don't really put food in one as to keep it coolOLLOLOLOOLOLOLOL
I have been driving for about 40 years now, non of my vehicles
glove boxes were ever cooled ;)
This could become a automotive trend.

Sir, my owners manual must be over a inch thick, that is a ton of reading
in the cold LOL

I just Googled "Optima cooled glove box", low and behold there was a thread
here about it back in 2012.
Gota love google.

Believe it or not... the glove box does a wonderful job of keeping a 12oz can of soda or small bottle of water nice and cool on a long road trip. That's what the wife and I use it for.

Not sure if it's in the manual, but the cooled glove box could be used to keep things cool if you want them to be, and not if you don't. Hope this helps.

I keep spare socks in the summer so when I change them, my feet are nicely cool for 5-8 seconds. In the winter I keep a hat so my head is warm for 2.5 seconds.

Just an FYI, you should have plastic plug on that, that you can turn open or close inside there. When I bought my car, the dealer had it in a bag with some other crap like license plate screws and it took me forever to figure out where it was suppose to go...

Yep exactly what I do as well. I have a mini water bottle in there for emergency situations. ;)

This cooled glove box thing has been around for a number of years now. I'm fairly sure I had that on my 97 Passat and the other german vehicles I had since then. Good place to keep snacks and drinks on long summer drives.

When we travel, I'm a firm believer in stimulating the economy I'm in and pull
over and eat, drink, and what ever else is needed to make our trip more enjoyable :)

You mean anybody here uses their GLOVE COMPARTMENT for anything else than keeping their driving gloves there ? How can you commit such a heresy of using it for something else ? Please don't tell me also that you don't even have driving gloves. :)
