@loman4ec I am starting to lean towards your unit. Where is the SD card input on it? Also, what type of screen is it? LCD? LED? 720p? Just curious. Finally, on this unit will I be able to have it wired so that the DVD's can play while I am driving? Will I need some sort of parking brake bypass kit with this?
I have that unit too and its 800x480 8inch, dvds look great on it im asuming 720 and as long as you dont connect the wire to stop yourself from watching while moving you can. All wires are plug and play with factory harness except button illumination, reverse wire for backup cam, and the lockout wire to stop video while moving. The SD card slots 2,1 for gps maps are hidden behind what looks like the lower botton on left above volume control. Factory usb port is supported and a standard ipod, iphone cable is included so the kia cable is not needed. Any other questions feel free. We are using IGo8 gps and maps, like it much better than my garmin unit.

Here is the link to the unit.

I love my tech gadgets... But I need to customize those too. I have a pioneer DVD unit (AVH-3300) that has the parking brake bypassed so I can watch video on the road. If I wanted a new unit today, I'd choose the AVH-8400 from pioneer. It has a bigger screen and great resolution. Sure it's not a nav unit, but if you have an iPhone you can use motionX through the h/u.

I like the idea of that bicdaddy. How exactly does motionX work? Do i need to run a cable directly from my iphone or will it transfer over via bluetooth? Any more info on this would be great! If you have a video that would be even better! I am going to look into the 8400 right now and also see what I can dig up about motionX. I think I can easilly save $300 by going this route.

Rather than post twice, i just waited and did some research. I love this 8400 unit. Best part about it is the added security. Living in chicago, I have had my POS cars broken in to just for some mid line alpine cd player. Couldnt imagine what they would do for a nice NAVI unit. With the 8400, I love how I can take the faceplate off. I can purchase this on amazon for $500. Leaves some room for some other mods now like the DRL's I have been wanting... maybe a night of some nice craft beer too from 3 Floyds!

Still if you wouldnt mind explaining the MotionX further, I would really appreciate it. If I have to have a cable plugged directly to the iphone, what would be the best way to run the cable? Can I connect it to the factory ipod hookups in my '12 EX? Thanks again for the help guys!

MotionX is a free app, but the nav service is between $7-10 per year (think about how you will never need to update your maps again). It works through the 'appradio' from pioneer ( As well as Netflix, iPod video, and many more). I usually have my music setup through pandora, and when I need to navigate I open motionX on the phone, and punch in where I'm going, and wait for the directions (the voice comes over the stereo, and is always right on. When you do it this way, the album art from pandora stays on the screen). You can also go to app radio, start motion x, and have a regular nav screen (which looks better than my last 2 garmin's), however on this screen you are limited to the music that's on the phone. If your phone is jail broken, you can run any app through the stereo... HBOgo, NFL, Crackle, games.. Etc.

yes, you'd have to plug in the iphone to the unit to get the motionx to work, but use the supplied video cable that pioneer has for the unit. But it works awesome, I had this in my truck before getting my new optima. Pandora, Netflix, Motionx all worked seamlessly...assuming you have the 12v relay in there for the videos.

Yes the Chinese units I am bringing over are really nice. We are getting them for less than $400 shipped to your door. They work great! The GPS is awesome. The Igo maps are not well known but I am a salesman/Engineer so I live in my car and it works great. IT is so accurate that there is a golf course accross the street with many little ponds and one is only about 6 to 8' wide which is more of a puddle than a pond but it is even on the GPS. They are that accurate. In the city it shows 3D buildings and if you touch one it says the name and address of the building. The points of interest are also great! My 10 year old son is in karate and goes to a local teacher in an old 7-11 building. Its only been open for 2 years and its on the points of interest. For all poi's it gives name address and pone number as well as nav. But you can look up the POI and it gives the phone number and it calls them through the blue tooth and while its calling asks if you want to go there and if you do just hit yes and off you go while talking. The radio is great! I get stations now that all I got was static with my oem unit. The DVD is crystal clear and is great to keep the kids quiet. It has vid outputs if you want to add screens in the back. It has an internal amp that is 45W RMS x 4 and comes with 5 amp preouts plus a camera out. I love having a backup camera. As optimaexturbo just said it runs on Windows CE and can be unlocked to be used as a computer. Optimaexturbo got his unit from me.

I lived in South east Asia for many years and created a lot of contacts. I have a broker in China that finds everything and anything I can think of. He found this company and although man sell this unit this is the actual factory so returns for repairs are easy and then I found out that one of my very close friends and business contacts in Singapore owns part of the factory. SO now there will be NO PROBLEMS! He will take care of any issues no question. You can't go wrong. they are selling for more on ebay so if you dont like it sell it. Also they are plug and play. Nothing altered, no wires to cut. Just remove old one and insert the new one. It is built into the new dash facia so no need for an adapter. Here are some pics. Its also not got the cheesy backgrounds that many have. The first pic is one of their ad pics but by swiping your finger up or down and side to side you can flip through options like this. also for an extra $50 you can have digital TV added. It also streams music via bluetooth, Has usb that is connected to your oem USB. It holds you phone contacts, of course bluetooth phone. It has an internal mic but everyone I talk to says its clearer than the stock one was. You really can't go wrong with this. It looks and works killer.

I do not have the upgraded unit in my Optima. I have the regular radio, with bluetooth and CD player, nothing else. Would I be able to plug and play with that?

I wish that this = KRDepot = Korean automobile accesory and electronic information. » Blog Archive » KIA Optima GPS Navigation Center In Dash Bezel Radio centerfascia came in the SX carbon fiber for the shifter casing. I would then put Android Ultimate In-Car OEM System - Remote Bluetooth Touch, HDMI Mirroring in there and have a 7" lcd mirroring my phone that is connected to the UVO system via bluetooth. Oh well, someday my dream of controlling and mirroring my phone on a larger screen will come true. I might have to wait and see how these turn out Two Sony MirrorLink car stereos coming in Q2, along with compatible Samsung smartphones (hands-on video) -- Engadget
