I have a 2016 Kia Optima EX with auto climate control.
The auto defogger system is also in my car.

Recently, I had to get my windshield replaced.
After the replacement with the new windshield, my auto defogger system (ADS) now comes on all the time.
I have read the owners manual, which states that to reset the system you hold down the front defroster button.
I have done this numerous times, and ADS still comes on all the time.
If I do not turn off ADS and have my climate control on auto, it will always go to ADS. Even when I try to override by selecting a certain mode, such as floor vents, it will go back to ADS and defrost vents.

Is this an issue with the sensor? Do I need to reset the system somehow?
If anyone has the answer, I would be very grateful.

Sounds like a possibility that the ADS module that's mounted on the top center portion of the windshield might be an issue--i.e., maybe it got damaged during the windshield removal/replacement?

Guess I'll see if my ADS acts up post-windshield replacement, as I have an appointment to have my cracked windshield replace; the ADS and LDWS (including camera) are on the windshield and will of course need to be checked and/or recalibrated if necessary. Unfortunately(?) my local Kia dealership outsources the windshield replacement and necessary adjustments to Safelite so I will be going to Safelite for the windshield job; hopefully they won't screw up the ADS and LDWS.

I'd make certain that they use OEM glass opposed to OEE.

Hmmm that *might* be an issue since, a) I don't have OEM part replacement coverage on my insurance; and b) under the terms of my $0 deductible comprehensive safety glass policy my insurance company is under no mandatory obligation to honor any request that a replacement part must be OEM, especially in the absence of an OEM part replacement rider on my policy.

I will see if Safelite is willing to use OEM but even if not, then since they are an approved/authorized repair facility for my insurance company, if there are any issues with the windshield post-replacement, I can take it up with my insurance company since they guarantee any work performed by any of their authorized repair facilities.

Not that all replacements are or even a potential problem, but drove a '13 Optima last summer while in Florida that had a replacement windshield from Pilkington (an OEM mfg) and wife and I both saw waves in certain locations.

Are you doing the Steps in the Link when you say you Press the Defrost Btn? (to reset the system you hold down the front defroster button.)

IF you get the ack the Auto-Moisture Sensor is OFF, I have no clue.

Yeah I hear you on that (glass distortion)--I will make sure to definitely look for that, although at the same time I can only imagine that the replacement windshield (if not OEM) will be structurally more sound that the *fragile* Kia windshield; I've owned more than my fair share of vehicles whose windshields have received their fair share of impacts that resulted in impact marks or small cracks, and the Kia windshield is the only one in my stable in which the crack just kept growing and growing (it has now expanded to over 2/3rds the width of my windshield).

Our '08 Optima was 3 days old and a stone from a Lexus SUV hit the windshield and cracked it immediately. Installed another and fine for the 300k miles. Our '11 is pitted pretty badly, in fact it looks like the windshield has been sandblasted and in direct sun-lite it really magnifies the sun's rays, not good. Over time it's been attacked pretty hard with heavy stone hits and hasn't broken yet.
Good luck!

One other thing--they better not install a "plain jane" clear windshield; the Kia OEM one has the tint shade along the upper part of the windshield plus that black-colored dot-matrix looking shading surrounding the rear-view mirror mount which I'm pretty sure isn't there just for cosmetics.

Update--did not get the windshield installed because the installer discovered a small but visible scratch on the replacement, so now have to wait for them to ship another one.

FYI--price for the (aftermarket) windshield is $428.65, parts kit is $40, windshield underside top molding $12.76, labor to install windshield is $115; get this though--the labor Safelite is charging for the camera recalibration is $250.

Thankfully I opted for the comprehensive safety glass $0-deductible coverage--otherwise the total cost (including tax) would have come out to $881.32.
