Audio system defaults to USB or radio, instead of last used device

OK everyone, I thought I'd try here as my Google searches didn't reveal much useful.

I have a 2017 Optima PHEV (I don't think the PHEV part matters for this purpose). So let's say I am listening to music from my phone via bluetooth. Done driving, turn the car off. Next time I get in the car, I'd expect it to do what every other car does - go back to the last used device (Bluetooth). Instead, it starts playing stuff from the USB (my wife has an iPod plugged in), or even the radio, and never the bluetooth. I have to wait for a little while, then go to Media (when the car lets me), and re-select Bluetooth.

Anyone else experience this? Any chance anyone knows if this is just poor design, or if there is a setting somewhere to make it work?
