Hello all I am in the process of the following as I have been wanting to put a system in this car since day one. That being said the staging in this car is phenomenal from factory. I am pretty big on SQ and even in my base model with he speaker placement it is very good. Anyways here is what I have done thus far.
New head Unit: went double din on this one even tho I am partial to the single dins because of less issues with loud bass. But I went with the Kenwood DDX 375 BT
Steering wheel adapter: Maestro Sw (this was discounted via Crutchfield and they gave me my dash kit for free
)
Got all of that installed which was a little confusing with the maestro but after about 10 minutes I figured it out.
Total install time was 2 hours. Down fall is I have a 2015 so literally have the dang dash has to come out to get to the radio.
The new HU even further livened up the sound which has me itching for more, no surprise there as my truck had 2 15 incriminator audio on a mmats 1400.1 and put out a 148.3 on the dash.
My next purchase is looking like this :
Ive had 2 and 3 amps before and its just a PITA and running speaker wires through Molex is again a PITA so I was looking for integration through the factory harness. This limits my power to the mids to about 75 watts max. That being said I have decided on putting the Alpine ktp-455u behind my HU. This is made extremely simple by the fact that our harness is split into two different plugs allowing me to not have to cut any factory wiring, which I am fully against doing. This should put out about 45 watts @ 4 ohms to the mids
For the Mids I am going to upgrade to my favorite brand ( I am very brand loyal to them as I am friends with the owner and he is super down to earth and just a great guy.) Mclaren Audio. I was going to run their new Proaxial which should be debuting this year. ( a trademarked term, essentially a coaxial but made with pro audio) But I am going to go with the MLS T6 component set for the front, I probably won't use the tweeter as I have read that most use a 3.5" in the dash. In the rear I am going to put in MLS t65 coaxial. These combined with the alpine power pack should give a very clean crisp yet warm sound. I am also going to be putting a minor bit of sound reading on the door skin to help with mid bass and prevent rattles. Our door linings really seal in the entire door to make a perfect enclosure.
Sub wise I am going to be doing two Mclaren M4-8s (rated conservatively at 400 watts) in about a 2 cu.ft box tuned to around 33hz. on a Mclaren 800.1 (again conservative)
I was going to do the big 3 but with 800 watts I doubt it will be too bad but we will see.
For the mean time I will be doing a 4 gauge run to the amp with KnuKonceptz wire. I also found a set of battery terminals that they have that allows me to keep all factory wires without cutting and having to put my own lug on.
Its going to be a minute for most of these things as I am in law school so not very much income flowing my way currently but we will make it happen.
Also I am open to suggestions for the dash speakers. I have questions on them as well. I see some people saying that there is no cross over on them which is fine cause all of the speakers I am looking for are either midrange with a bass blocker for the tweeter or just just a 2.75" with the necessary bass blockers.
The nicest I have seen is the sundown SA 2.75 which is a full range speaker.
