Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2004 Kia Optima for my daughter. When we took it for its inspection, it failed for OBDII. The computer would not communicate with the diagnostic tool. I then took it to the DMV and their tool did not connect either.

In looking at various forums, I can't find anything similar.

There are no problems with the car running and no warning lights are on.

We did pull a fuse for the sunroof, so could it be that since that fuse is missing, the computer is in some sort of "suspension"? The car also has an after-market radio, and I have heard that may be an issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Josh

As the OBDII has power, there must be a circuit protector, so try replacing the fuse for the sunroof, and if no go, check other fuses.
