  1. 4th Generation Optima (2016 - 2020)
Is there anyway to change the color of the bulbs. I looked at the back of my unit online and it looks sealed. I would like to change to a LED bulbs Also is the shifter a regular 194 bulb with a red film or is it a special bulb?

Got a real head-scratcher for you all: Is it possible to upgrade the base HVA/C system in the 3rd Gen LX to the higher trim EX system? Is the vehicle wiring basically the same, and attaching the higher grade controls merely a case of plug-and-play? Or, do you need to purchase some additional...

Just a couple of general questions: 1. Where is the ambient temperature sensor located? I cannot seem to find any real pictures of where it is, and my guage cluster temperature guage has been reading 99 degrees, with spikes up to 104 ever since I replaced my stereo and climate controls. 2...

Hey guys, I have an issue just surfaced. I turned off my car and I heard some loud thumbing noise. And I googled and I think it’s the blend door acuator. Few years back, my vent selection stopped working but it worked again after off and on the car. I think it’s one of the acuator. My...

Hi all, Having problems with my AC airflow. It started with the dash servo/clicking noises back in the fall. After trying the temp changes or vent direction changes I found the noise to be coming from when the airflow was moved from head to toe. So, I ordered the new actuator and put it in...

When will the Optima drop the AC/Heat controls being part of the Infotainment system?I prefer the dials and temp indicators in the HVAC unit like on my Sonata. Also, MyHyundai app and BlueLink provide Remote Start. It appears Kia only provides on K900...not even on new Stinger yet (without 2nd...

Is the 2015 Optima's recirculation door vacuum or electrically operated? It seems that when on high speed (4) the recirc kicks in when stopping at alight. When accelerating it will come out of recirc as if there were a vacuum problem.

It sounds like it's coming from the fan. The sound is similar to a computer where too much dust collects on the cpu fan (sorry computer nerd and know nothing about cars). If I turn off the HVAC the sound goes away. If I turn up the vent speed, the sound goes away. I tried recording the sound...

Hello all, I have an Optima that came from factory navigation and infinity audio. I believe this makes it hard to upgrade the head unit since the HVAC controls are integrated. I was just curious if I can take the HVAC screen from the first image i've linked below and insert it into my factory...

My 2014 SX-T is making a strange high-pitched hissing noise when the vent fan is on. With recirc on or off, the noise still persists. It's intermittent but occurs about 80% of the time the car is on. I had the dealer replace the blower motor, but it didn't help. Is there a second fan, maybe an...

Going to try my best to utilize the OEM backup camera, mic and roof mounted GPS sensor. Just want to know if HVAC and Steering Wheel controls are CAN BUS.

Just picked up a used optima. Getting this checked out but hopefully will find some insight on here. No matter what i do i get ac/heat coming from the foot vents and a limited amount of air coming out of the top vents even when the fan is on full. Even when i go to manual climate control and put...
  13. DIY : Audio, Navigation, And Electronics
DISCLAIMER / WARNING: I am NOT an electrical engineer! While I know electronics fairly well, and I know how to read schematics, my math on this stuff isn't always perfect. From what I can tell, the current board (which works in unison with the HVAC), has plenty of power to run the super bright...

I believe I am the first one here to do this, but I don't really know... What do you guys think? Who all would be interested in a DIY of this? I have all the information to make the DIY, but I want to know if it's actually gonna be useful before I do it. Look at the needles, primarily the...

So yesterday my climate control decided it was going to stay on high.... You can see on the nav display that button pushes adjust from low to high, but the fan always blows full speed, regardless of setting; AC, floor, split, heat, auto, doesn't matter, it's stuck on high. All other hvac...
  16. 3rd Generation Optima (2011 - 2015)
Hi All, The fan in my 2014 Optima is acting weird. If I have the A/C on and set the temperature to low (and not on automatic) the fan randomly varies it's speed. It's frustrating as ****. Is this normal or is it something I need to have the dealer look at? Thanks for any thoughts. J.

I got a stereo installed today and although everything look nice I lost HVAC controls. I wanted to know if these controls were wired to the original factory head unit? I have a standard non uvo stereo with the controls below. The install was done at Best Buy so I hope this wasn't another horror...

So i just bought a 2012 LX this weekend and I've noticed that when I turn of the AC, turning the fan selector to Zero, the zone control button remains illuminated, as if it were still on. Is this an indication that the system is still ON just with the fan not running? Or is this normal...
