  1. Loose Axle Nut

    Wheels, Tires and Suspension
Some do have a castle nut and cotter pin, but on the '11 2.0T it has staked axle nuts, no cotter pin. The nut gets torqued to spec then the "crush" area over the slot gets pounded into the slot. Next time the wheel is off, take a look.
  2. 1 Second LAG After Stop Driving Wife Nuts

    4TH Generation Optima (2016- )
The car comes with the crappy dual clutch transmission and one problem is the hesitation when starting from a stop, annoying but normal. Test Drive Magazine: Turbocharged performance mixes with thriftier fuel economy in the Optima LX 1.6T, but hesitation in the dual-clutch transmission...
  3. Brake noise inside cabin

    Hybrids
Well, this is a new one on me, if it's not an external noise but confined to the cabin, I have to admit I have no idea how a sound is only inside when the brakes are applied, but when you find out please let us know.
  4. Trouble?

    New Member Introductions
    Check condensate drain for blockage.
  5. Brake noise inside cabin

    Hybrids
Brake fluid should be changed every 2 to 3 years and the master cyl. is not a sealed unit. As far as the noise, who knows how it started, but when stopping and noise is detected, press on the brake pedal harder and the noise will probably stop. If this in fact is true, the brakes just need some...
  6. 2.4 liter power plant

    Engine and Technical Discussion
Good to hear that as there's always one that survives.
  7. 2013 Optima EX

    New Member Introductions
Personally I think all have the possibility to disintegrate, but much higher on the earlier years <'15. I wouldn't put Toyota and Kia in the same class. Toyota has proven itself, Kia not so much. Toyota sales last year 2,128,201 and market share, steady, Kia 589,673 and market share on the way...
  8. Map Sensor code

    Engine and Technical Discussion
Maybe it's defective, need a new unit. They can be checked with a MM.
  9. I heard a loud popping noise while accelerating and now I’m losing power while driving

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
    Check for an intake leak.
  10. 2015 Optima SXL Overheating in traffic or while stopped.

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
There seems to be a relay and 2 fuses in the engine compartment box. Sensor 1 C/Fan C/Fan 2 60A C/Fan 1 40A I thought maybe the coolant temp sending unit, but you're able to read the engine temp that seems to be correct, so therefore I also thought there may be another temp sending unit that...
  11. Suspension and General Maintenance Beyond 100K on 13 Optima SX

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
Know I could edit, but give some thought to the expense on non needed replacements. Nothing is going to leave you stranded as the CV boots when ripped one can drive for quite some time before needing replacement, same as other items. I really can't even see shorter oil/filter and atf fluid...
  12. Suspension and General Maintenance Beyond 100K on 13 Optima SX

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
Axles-Some are only OEM, non available aftermarket. Struts/shocks I'd go aftermarket because of the cost Brakes let the hoses go until they are needed or caliper change End links, mostly the front don't have a long life, go for aftermarket with grease fittings Alt 110 aps not familiar with...
  13. Suspension and General Maintenance Beyond 100K on 13 Optima SX

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
Actually the 100k mark is nothing for a "normal" car, but the problems with this car is ridiculous. I mean if you decide to do all the preventative maintenance that may be needed down the road, hope you can do the work and have a lot of money. Just remember, you're putting money into a dinosaur...
  14. Oil change.

    Engine and Technical Discussion
If you give info year, engine, probably you'll get the oil change intervals.
  15. Oil change.

    Engine and Technical Discussion
Check the owner's manual. Change will depend on engine, miles/time.
  16. Transmission Question

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
If left foot on brake and accelerator pressed, logic in ecu to prevent unintended acceleration, so no engine response. Give it a try.
  17. turbo?

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
    No
  18. No signal on radio

    Entertainment: Audio, Navigation, and Electronics
Have had no signal at times when driving, but it would come back on quickly, so really don't have an answer, other than wait and see if continues. At least you have a satellite radio, our '11 satellite radio is frozen, won't move, any screen, but the am, fm, nav fine. Time for a new unit for me.
  19. Transmission Question

    3RD Generation Optima (2011-2015)
Did you have your left foot on the brake?
  20. Surprising fuel ecomony.

    4TH Generation Optima (2016- )
Not on a 2.0T! After thinking about my driving, got to say that I'm not the easiest on the car, not really a heavy foot, but do like to, let's say exercise the engine when needed. The wife will always use eco, while I can't stand to drive with that feature on. After thinking about my driving...
