Need New Rear Shock 2016 Optima SX

So long story short, it looks like I have a blown rear shock on my SX with 47,000 miles. Not covered under warranty, as I am lowered on Kinetic springs. Have searched high and low for replacements, and looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and order OEMS for about $124 each. Many sites list a Monroe, but according to Monroe tech support, they do not have one out for the 2016's yet.
Any one else have to hunt down a replacement?

    Thanks for any input guys!

Hey man, we can definitely help you with this.

The new 2016-2019 Kia Optima TruHart Struts/Shocks made for lowered vehicles are available.

TruHart Kia Optima/Hyundai Sonata Sport Shocks/Struts Combo - K5 Optima Store

This way, for about the price of the OEM's for the rear only, you can get all 4 replaced.

The advantage with these over the stock OEM ones, is that they are designed to work with lowering springs.

    Hey Dave,

Thanks for the heads up. Any way to buy just the rears? Don't feel up to tearing out the fronts again at this time.

Welcome, and I wish, they are only sold as a set.

However, you wouldn't have to change out the fronts to do the rears. I mean it would be best to do them all at the same time.

You could always just do the rears and hang onto the fronts for later.

Agree, lowering springs on factory shocks, not the way to go. I'm not a fan of coil-overs or lowering springs on stock suspension because of the added loads on the factory suspension & CV joints, but if one wants to go lower coil-overs are the way to go.

True, although the Eibach Kinetic springs only lower the car 0.875", I'm sure they are making the stock shocks/struts work harder. Still went 40K until this issue showed up. Any chance it could be the upper shock mount and not the shock itself that is making all the clunking noises? TIA

7/8" not all that much, so guess it's time to get under the car and take a look. Check stabilizer links also just to be sure.

Thanks David. Will keep these in mind. Are they still on back order? And will they maintain the current ride height?

Thanks David. Are the Eibach Kinetic springs short enough to pair with these? Will the ride height drop little more? Car sounds like a hooptie with all the noise coming from the back.
