Lap3 vs Btrcc Canned Tune Comparsion

    Hey guys,

I know many of us have the Btrcc canned tune and loved it. Especically how it lowers the rpm during cold start. I don’t think Lap3 has that yet.

Let’s discuss on both pros and cons. So the new owner can make the best decision. I’ll update this post as we get more information from actual owners. If you have both, that would be even better. Please post your review down below.

Yes, it does for the Stage 1.5+. You get the free "+" upgrade (which has that and other new features) after two months of ownership of the tune. I do like that it lowers the RPM on cold start but it still revs it higher than I'd like on a cold engine.

I've posted my review of the LAP3USA ECU tune on these forums in other threads: The summary - I'm very impressed with the LAP3USA ECU Stage 1.5+ tune with all my modifications (see my Showroom for details)! I just love it!

I have the BTR tune, version 3.1 and then I had it custom tuned by them in Chicago. LOVE the tune. However, BTR has stopped progressing the Optima/Sonata platform and the LAP3 1.5+ tunes have surpassed them, especially if you have meth injection, upgraded turbo or their external wastegate. I am in the process of switching myself.

Better hurry! The news is that for the 2011-2014 Optima 2.0T that LAP3USA will ship only 30 more units to the USA and then that's it. Still shipping for newer car models as I understood it.

Update: For the meth injection or running E30 (mix of E85 & 93 octane gas), there is Stage 2.0 from what I understand.

I see the newer model has the app that you can change the octane settings, so the older model will have to do it every time via obd2?

That is correct. I wish they would come out with the newer model that supports the older Optimas like mine (2011-2015) but I don't think there is enough market justification for it.

To be honest, I NEVER change from the Stage 1.5+ to any other tune file (even stock). Not hard to do, I just always love running the hotter tune.
