    NHTSA Opens Investigatin 4/1/19

Not an April fools joke, although Hyundai/Kia would have liked it to be:

    Let's try this one:

Guess I was checking on Deborah Norville to see how she came out of the operation and just copied the incorrect address.

Kia has already addressed this issue with a Recall. I had my done recently. Basically it is an inspection and possible replacement of the HPFP fuel line.

It is in response to poor installation at the dealerships during engine or HPFP replacements that could cause a high pressure fuel leak and possible resulting fire (which has resulted in several injuries and one death according to the article).

This is a new one. The one you're speaking of was a recall issued 12/19/2018. NHTSA campaign number 18V907000.

The NHTSA said that prior recalls of vehicle models covered by the investigation have related to engine fires but that this probe "is not limited to engine components and may cover additional vehicle systems or components as well."

They've been investigating the Hyundai/Kia response on engine problems and the lack of quick resolution from the companies, so 4/1/19 they have decided enough evidence to proceed.
Maybe they'll give me what the cars worth, maybe $.02, or to be more realistic, scrap value, $500.

WOW. "have received 3,125 reports of fires that were not sparked by a collision"
That's certainly indicative of a big issue. Wonder what our government is gonna do. Probably fine them and give the owners nothing!
