    2013 Kia Optima Turbo SX

    Hello,

Just joined up. Purpose of joining is to hopefully read some technical information that I can use to help diagnosis and fix my mother's 2013 Kia Optima Turbo SX.
She is currently experiencing a problem with the car and I'm unfamiliar with working on Kia's.

The problem I am having with the car is the car failed inspection. The reported problem is:
Primary Emission Test Performed: OBD - Fail
    OBD SYSTEM - DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS
    Overall Readiness Result: Fail

    OBD SYSTEM - READINESS STATUS
    Fuel System: NOT READY

Car is not showing any CEL (Check Engine Lights).
    Odometer Reading: 19,245
Car is not driven very much
My BlueDriver did not read any codes

    Any ideas?

I also disconnected and re-connected the battery. All readiness checks except the fuel. Took the car for a short drive, but did NOT drive on the highway at highway speeds.

So it failed the emissions test because it did not finish the rediness test. Was any work done recently? Usually if there is a check engine light, and a stored code, after the part is changed, the codes will need to be cleared. That's all fine and dandy, but until the ECU runs that particular test again, it remains in a "floating" state. There is no light, but hasn't ran the test yet. Until the reediness is ran and passed, it will fail emissions every time.

Typically, all that is required is to drive the car a while. nothing special, just normal driving. Some OBD2 scanners (like the one I have) will not only read the codes, but give you a rediness pass light as well. Red if there is an issue (typically when there are codes stored), Yellow if there are no codes, but rediness has not yet passed, and Green if rediness has passed with no MIL's.
