Replacing stock speakers with 2 or 3 way speakers?

Just bought and installed a Kenwood DMX7705S deck. Of course the stock speakers sound like crap. I want to replace them with something that sounded similar to the stock speakers with just a bit more oomf. 30 to 60 bucks and I am good. Is it worth going to a 3 way speaker? 2 way good enough if I leave the dash speakers alone?
I play some hip hop, rock, books on tape, etc. Loud enough so you can't hear my voice if I sing along. I see a lot of posts with higher end speakers and I am good pushing 22w to each speaker from the deck.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can throw my way.

For me only going to separates would be a real upgrade

It honestly doesn't really make a huge difference going two way or three way. The biggest difference you see, as the above poster mentioned, replacing your dash speakers as well.

Gotcha, thanks for the advice! I will just go with some 2ways and and then replace the dash afterwards. I'll find a small sub to handle the bass at a later time.
