    Need Suggestions...2012 SX..Eibach lowered..rim size/ tire size

I need the help of our community. I have decided to keep my 2012 SX and I need input as to how I want to move forward with her in regards to my tire/ wheel situation.

I had 20" enkei razr's and took them off because the potholes are vicious plus the tire noise was extremely loud. Also, with my ride running the eibach springs I would scrape bottom once in a while therefore I am thinking a taller tire would give me more clearance.

I want a wheel size/ tire size that will blend in with looks, quietness and have a decent clearance.

Currently, I am running the stock wheels with eibach spacers (20 mm back and 15 mm front). The sad thing about this is that I have to tighten my lug-nuts every week because the spacers loosen them. It's pretty scary when it happens.

I know that 19" rims are more expensive due to the odd size. I wonder if I can keep my 20" enkei's and just get different tires that are quieter and don't hit so damn hard as the previous tires. Or I wonder if I should get 18" rims with a taller tire to fill up the wheel-well?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

What torque are you putting your wheels on? I ran 20mm garageline spacers and never had to tighten any lug nuts. And I remember torquing them to 85lbs. And whats the wheel spec and the tire size on your 20s?

First of all, when running lower profile tires, you'll need to run higher PSI to compensate for the lower air volume of the tire. Oddly enough, running PSI too low will make the tire feel rougher than it would be at the proper PSI.

Second, you didn't list the size tire you run on your 20" wheels, but the actual wheel assembly could be taller than your stock 18" tires with the stock 225/45R18s mounted. Check it out on a tire size calculator. You're 20" set up could be taller than most 19" tire sizes too. So if it's ground clearance your after but probably not much over your 20" wheels.

But, you can gain some sidewall with 19" wheels depending and a little bit of overall height over your stock tires. So you can gain a little comfort (especially if you can fit a 245/40R19 on which will require a higher offset wheel with Eibachs).

Here is another useful tool for figuring out fit and PSI required for different size tires. I posted it in another thread earlier.

To get a better idea of different size/rated tires and how much PSI is required, got to Toyo Tire Finderand put your model in. You will get a list of compatible Toyo tires, sizes, load ratings and PSI needed for each tire on your car. You can chose OE or Plus sizes. It's a really handy research tool and you can take what you learn and apply it to any brand tire.

(When selecting the trim, you'll notice that the SX uses 95V, but the EX uses 93V from the factory.)
