    LED bulb replacements

    Hi All,

Spicy Red Optima SX with Premium and Tech package over here in South NJ. Just wanted to post some of the changes that I've made to the car's lighting.

So far, I've changed the front and rear dome lights along with the reverse lights and license plate lights. All of the LEDs were so far purchased from V-LEDS.com

    Here's what I ordered...

    Front Dome: 2 6K WHITE 3 CHIP 5 LED LIGHT BULBS 194
    Link: 2 6K WHITE 3 CHIP 5 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 168 158 2821

Rear Dome: 6K WHITE 2W 4 LED HIGH POWER DOME LIGHT BULB DE3175
    Link: V-LEDS 6K WHITE 2W 4 LED HIGH POWER DOME LIGHT BULB 3022 3021 DE3175

License Plate: 6K WHITE 2.5 WATT HIGH POWER 4 LED LIGHT BULBS 194
    Link: 2 6K WHITE 2.5 WATT HIGH POWER 4 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 168 158 2821

Reverse Light: 6K WHITE 68 MSMT BULBS 921
    Link: V-LEDS 6K WHITE 68 MSMT BULBS 194 158 168 917 918 920 921 922 923

Next to be replaced will be:

    Glove Box: ???
    Trunk: DE3175
    Front Turn Signal: 1157 (Switchbacks)
    Rear Turn Signal: 1156

For the rear turn signals, I haven't decided as of yet which color to get, red or amber.

As for resolving the hyperflash issue, I'll be ordering the load resistors being that nobody has been able to figure out whether or not this car has a replaceable flasher module. I'm starting to think that there is no flasher module and that it's electronically controlled.

Anyways... I figured that you all would be interested.

I have replaced literally every bulb (excluding the rear turns) with LED's. I even replaced the fogs with amber H8 LED bulbs. As far as the hyperflash goes, you will definitely need resistors. There are no modules (yet).

I have resistors but have not installed them yet. Let me know when you find out which wires (there are four) on the rear turns are 12v and ground.

good going on the switchback front turns. That's what I got and I love them.
As for the rears go with red! No one has done it yet. Plus your car is red... I think it would look good.
    Good luck with the resistors...

Go amber for the rear signal, it just shows up better! How is the light output on the backup lights LED?

Light output is brighter and whiter than stock. Also, the bulbs look like they kinda sparkle since all of the leds on the buld are reflected by all of the bends on the reflector.

Had a lil prob with my HID's used this resister, which took about two min to install and cured the issue.

If you don't mind me asking, what's that resistor for? You mention that you had a problem with your HID's and this was the cure? Will this also work in curing the hyperflash issue as well?

Thanks for reporting on this, Chuck. I want to do my turn signals in LED too but I'm waiting until someone figures out the resistors.

For $34.99 x 2 ... I will live with the stock bulb. While I love the LED's i just don't see spending that $$ for these until the cost comes down quite a bit.
