    Oil Leaking After Oil Change

On monday I brought my 2011 optima for an oil change at the dealership. When I got home, I noticed that my oil was leaking.

I went back tuesday morning, the service manager said they put the filter back incorrectly and that is why it was leaking. I took the car, and saw in the afternoon that is was once again leaking. Dealer took a closer look at it, and said that the oil can had a crack in it. Told me that it would be 2-3 days to get a part in and that I can keep driving it. (WTF? Shouldnt you not drive a car when its leaking oil as that it could damage the engine?) I went back home, and noticed that it was leaking puddles after they check it out. Went right back and he gave me a loaner car.

So I get a call back the very next day at noon (20 hours after I drop the car off) saying that he got the part in and its done. I was happy that he got it done so quick but suspicious that it was done in less than a day when he told me on tuesday that it would take a couple days to get the part in, but whatever. Drove around for two days, all great.

Pulling out of my driveway today, i noticed fresh oil stains on my driveway. Pull the car up on little ramps I have, and its freaking leaking oil again!! This is getting ridiculous. I have to go back to the dealership for a FIFTH time in four days (counting going back to drop the car off and up) after getting a routine oil change.

I fear getting my oil changed at the dealership from now on...

look at it this way. at least they are responsible for the repairs, and they cant blame you for doing it wrong or taking it to a sub par mechanic.

Pretty lame that they cant figure out the issue right away though.

The thing is, this is the first time anything went wrong at this dealership. My family has three kias (2011 Sportage 12k miles, 2010 forte koup 15k miles) and always got my oil changes there. Absolutely nothing wrong with those.

This was the first oil change for the optima and apparently everything is going wrong..

I actually had a shop do this on my 2001 Elantra. Some idiot removed the washer from the oil plug and then when it was dripping they used the impact wrench to tighten it until is stopped dripping. The next time I tried to change the oil myself and could not get the drain plug out. I took it back to the shop and that's when I found out what they had done. I was very lucky that they did not crack the oil pan.

The sad part is that it is a very well known dealership that not only sells Kias, but also Audis and Porsches. My friend actually knows the owner of the dealership and I am about to ask him for his number tomorrow..

Just guessing. Sounds like they stripped a bolt someplace after over tightening it. And now something wont clamp down properly to seal at proper torque.

So I your first post you say oil can....did you mean pan?
if the pan is leaking, they'll have to drop, clean and reseal.
can you please clarify? And where do you see this oil dripping from?
