2014 Optima EX with Premium — Rear Trunk Button

OK, please clarify how the rear trunk lid button (the one below the lid) is supposed to work. It seems to operate with the passenger door open, but not with the driver door open.

And not otherwise. Am I missing something? A setting for this? The manual is obscure about how it's supposed to work.

    Peace,
    Gene

Yes that is normal and I think they design it that way. To be honest I don't think you can change the setting at all, and you'll have a better chance just to click the trunk button on the fob to get it open or press the unlock twice then you can lift it open.

Yes, we need to talk to the programmers about silliness like that, but since they use Microsoft technology for UVO, I suppose we can't expect anything better.

    Peace,
    Gene

My trunk button works even before I unlock any doors. I walk up to it, the mirrors unfold, and I pop the trunk.
You can try asking the dealer and hopefully you get someone who will actually know what they are doing. It could possibly be a programming thing

^^ I agreed with this only if you have the key fob with you and yes it can open anytime as long as you have the key fob. I think he meant without the key fob with him and try to open the trunk with just the driver unlock its not possible. Im sure it can be done programming through the dealer but never seen anyone try it yet.

Same, except my mirrors dont unfold automatically when Im close to the car only when I press unlock but I have used the trunk many many times without hitting any buttons... As for the drivers side door being open will have to test that...

IF what the OP meant to say is that he can't open the trunk without the key fob, then it's designed that way. Just because the doors are unlocked doesn't mean the latch for the trunk is or should. You wouldn't want a stranger to be able to open the trunk while you're sitting in the car
