    shark fin removal

i plan on wrapping my roof and side pillars glossy black.
but, the local person who wraps the roof states that he doesn't wrap the shark fin antenna.
i saw many pictures of the optima without the shark fin and it didn't look that bad.
so i was wondering.. if I remove the shark fin, would there be a problem with my radio, or is the antenna just for a sportier look?
    Let me know your opinions

The Shark antenna is for Sat Radio and GPS (if you have Nav). The AM/FM antenna is in the back window above the defroster lines.

Thanks robbtemp, so it is safe to say..if I don't use Sat Radio, and since I have the LX and no Navigation GPS.. I won't need the shark fin correct? just making sure..

Yeah, it's safe to say that. There will be hole(s) however.

That is correct...the shark fin gets bolted to the roof...I don't think I'd want to remove it based on the holes that will be left behind in the roof.

It'll look clean as **** if you remove it. Ive thought about removing it too. Are you going to have the hole welded shut, or atleast filled some other way before you put vinyl over it?

I would remove it, wrap the roof, paint that shark fin nicely with a black color spray can and put it back on. That would be my solution.

That's probably the smartest decision and reduce risk of leaks.
