    Nav screen, DVD SCREEN?

I wanted to know if anyone knows how I can turn the cd player into a DVD player and the screen into a regular screen to view movies on without loosing the other current features.

You can't unless you replace the entire unit.

Where could I find a unit to fit in the same space? Would it have to be custome? Would I loose functionality of the buttons on my steering wheel?

This unit is capable of reading DVD's, but the catch 22 is that they didn't incorporate a DVD player function in the media software. The operating system is Windows CE, if someone could find a way to access the operating system desktop you could install or modify the software to allow DVD playback.

Although the easiest way would be to just replace the head unit. There is one on EBay for 800 dollars that keeps all stock functions and has DVD playback.

are you planing to watch movies and drive at the same time? in my previous car, had it for 3 years, I had a nav/DVD player and I probably watched it a total of 3-4 times before I totaled it... I do however want to get a DVD system in the head rests for my passengers

Is that one that replaces the stock Navi unit or the stock non-Navi one?

Most of these aftermarket units are replacement for stock non-Navi units. Replacing the Navi unit (which the OP has) would be trickier as all of the climate controls are displayed on the screen.
