    Adaptive Cruise Control Question

I did read the owners manual, and if I missed what I am about to ask I am sorry. I just picked up my 16 SX Turbo yesterday and I have a question about the adaptive cruise control.
Is there a way to use the cruise control in the "old school" setting where you don't use the part that keeps the distance between your car and the one in front of you?
If so, how to you turn the adaptive on and off?

Just turn on the cruise control, then press the "Distance" button and hold it for a couple seconds. The display between the tach and speedo with say "Cruise Control" and you have old-school cruise. I do it every time I start the car now, since I don't like how ACC acts in in-town traffic.

Thank you very much Mike. I called three local Kia Dealerships and all three service dept. peeps said "nope, you can not turn it off."

I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but no matter what car I have owned it seems that the service advisors have no clue about the cars they are setting up for service calls.

My dealer's Svc Writer and (young) Oil Chg guy BOTH think it's OK to put 5W20 in a Turbo ... it's Not even on the List.

I don't disagree with what you guys have said, but in fairness, service writers are just that ... they write up what the customer says is happening with the car. Some are called Service Advisors, but that's just a different name for the same thing.

Some of these people learn some things over time when they see how certain things are handled by the Service Department, but you should never depend on them to give servbice advice. They're just dudes who tell the Service Dep't. what's bugging you with your car, and most of them have zero actual service experience.

I always know way more than any service or salesman after researching a car just for a day. And after owning it for a few weeks, way more. Was told ACC didn't stop on the 2016, and it does. In fact, you can actually activate it while stopped, which is great when you get caught up in traffic. Works really good.
