    Mishimoto Baffled OCC

Just received this very nicely made catch can but the hardware supplied doesn't fit the new optima. I believe it came with a 5/8 hose and adapters. The existing hose is 3/8 from the crankcase cover. I haven't verified the bottom connector just yet. However, it hasn't been easy to find this M20 x 1.5 with 3/8 hose barb fitting. I would like one with a 90 deg elbow preferably. I even called mishimoto but they couldn't help... Where do I get these fittings??? I have tried local hardware stores and am looking hard right now. Any help is appreciated. Thx

Update: I had the larger can exchanged for the more compact version.
I noticed it had a common thread size and would be beneficial for space.
I decided to go with the 2 port thinking I could just plug 1 port if not used but atleast have that option if need be.
Hopefully, I made the right move there, but can I run the other line to it as well?
I know some run 2 cans.
Still haven't confirmed that the bottom end of the pcv hose to manifold is the same size as on top.
When I get some extra time, I will get underneath it and see exactly where it's going...

See this thread for my install, and covers hose sizes. I found fittings at the local hardware store. Remember to use rated fuel/emissions hose - avoid silicone based hose which will break down due to oil contact.

Hey thanks for the link Scotte. Can you verify that the bottom connector is the same as the top or did you just use the stock hose and connect it to the can?

Sure, hope it helps! I didn't do anything with the drain on the can, if that's what you mean with bottom connector, it is plugged from the factory on my model. I might eventually because unscrewing the can is a bit tricky, hard to get a good grip on it.

I might be misunderstanding what you mean, though. The hose from the engine to the can is new, the hose from the can to the intake is the original factory hose with just a different clamp on the can.

Never got back around to posting again but have custom made mount for the occ out of 300 series stainless steel. 2mm thick. Much stronger then the one I got with the can. Eventually, I will give it some paint but for now just sandblasted finish.
I found that the contents inside have changed from a watery oily substance to double double coffee with these frigid temps. It seems like pure unburnt gas and water vapor mix now. I'm checking up on it every few weeks now that it's cold. Here's a few pics...

    Cheers...

I just bought the same OCC.

Any chance you can tell me where you got the blue 'plug' for the 3rd port? Thanks.

Bolt-on performance had them. (car shop near by)
I'm pretty sure any NPT fitting will work as a plug.
I wish these cans weren't generic and actually came with everything you need to install on the optima.
But that's taking out all the fun now!
    Come on...

I searched NPT on eBay and found some. BSP fittings are standard in Australia, but luckily I found some NPT fittings too.

Do you think you'll end up running the second inlet from the crankcase breather? I've been looking into the option of utilising a single OCC to eliminate the use of dual OCC.

I noticed you used metal fittings too. Would you recommend these over the plastic ones included?
