    Hack the UVO

Has anyone thought about hacking the UVO? It should be possible and may open up more possibilities. I would like to dim mine more and maybe add a screensaver of album art, some more EQ and display, etc.

That's a great idea. I would love if there were some sort of adaptor that you could hook up between your smartphone and the USB that would allow the UVO screen to display applications/websites on your phone. How cool would it be to have your phone's GPS, youtube, really anything you can get on your phone transfered to the UVO screen?

I know it will never happen, but one can dream.

Any computer geeks try to hack the UVO yet? That would be an Optima owner's Christmas present for all of us!

    It's a Microsoft product - you'll get a virus!!

Just kidding. I have had to replace my entire UVO head unit after only three months. It stopped taking orders and would listen only with no voice response but would not do anything. It had the latest firmware.

Hmm, now if only my wife would do that!! LOL!

Got lots of suggestions if anyone hacks the UVO system... I think it's a pain in the ass, so much for finding the clicking update- I think I'm gonna move back to the AUX cord... voice recognition is awful, and if your music artist has an unusual name and can't pick it up, have fun scrolling through your 32GB of music to get to the artist. Not to mention all the other things:

    -Dimming
-Why does the call volume have to be so loud for BT phone calls?
-Call volume being so loud means you almost loose your hearing when the phone rings
-Auto shut off ipod or device would be nice
-Touch artist name, ->go to artist would be nice
-remember iPod when always plugged in, not dumping when car gets shut off (media connection lag)
-not interrupting other listening when it finally does register the iPod...
-change FM/AM preset menu to a grid
etc... the list could go on forever....as a designer I find the UVO system to be very poor, it's like the team who designed it vetted it, and never got any outside input.
