Installing `14 navigation head unit into `13 nav equpped car

Seems the `14 has an 8" screen and hopefully upgraded functionality. Maybe it'll actually display Pandora info!! Anyway, it looks like the radio and HVAC control bezels are different but everything else dash wise is the same so this should be doable. I'll know more when the actual unit comes to market and I've tested the functionality of it when I test drive a 14 w/ navi. If anyone has any info about this new unit please post updates here.

You can already test the "functionality" of the '14 Nav unit on a '14 Sorento or Cadenza... no need to wait for the Optima.

So you know for a fact they `14 Cadenza and Sorento use the same head unit? If so, does anyone have one of these and know if Bluetooth streaming via Pandora displays the artist and song titles?

According to Kia's website, the Cadenza does use an 8" nav screen.

Be that as it may, that does not mean it is the same unit.

I didn't say it would be the exact unit (most likely it is though) ... but what I did say is that you could check the functionality of the new system, which is one of the things you said you wanted to check out on the '14 Optima when it comes out. They will all function the same, but the rest of the dash may be laid out differently... that's all.

Gotcha. I guess I'm questioning the button use on the dash and how they integrate w/ the navi screen and also if Pandora will show song title and artist name via BT.

The unit that I messed around with on a Sorento I drove had it, so this should, too. Not to mention that my wife's Hyundai Velsoter Turbo has Pandora interface on it, and it works like a champ. Just push the on-screen "button" w/ the "P" and it accesses your Pandora app on your BT'd smartphone (iPhone or Android) and it shows all the music info on the screen. I have to say that KIA has been behind Hyundai in reference to their infotainment systems, but it looks like they're finally coming around. JMHO.

If the 14 has the Pandora app i'll be happy. I'll have to find a way to integrate it into my `13. I drove every higher end`13 Hyundai before I bought the optima and not one had what you are mentioning either.

I love this idea: 2014 Nav in a 2013 car

Also since the UVO is problematic and not supported by KIA anymore (from what I hear)
