    Arrow Signatures

Coming very soon, you will all have the ability to upload images to your signatures, giving you an even better chance to show off your ride with every post you make!

There's a few guidelines we have to follow, to ensure we don't have huge images slowing down the forums:
    • Keep the visible size reasonable (no taller than 150px, no wider than 650px) - I know it's tempting to plaster all kinds of cool pictures in the signature space, but we have to keep other members in mind as well. No one wants to scroll through half a page of pics every time you post.
    • Keep the physical size reasonable (No more than 1MB) - The larger the file is, the longer it takes to load, which in turn slows down the performance of the forums loading. There's plenty of software and websites available to resize images and scale down quality to meet these requirements, but I can help if you don't know how. (Besides, 1MB is WAY more than enough..my signature is only 64KB)
    • No huge/multiple animated GIFs - I'm a sucker for a funny animated gifs just as much as the next person, but again, we don't want to slow down the loading times, and this is one of things that definitely WILL cause it. If you use a gif, please make it small and simple.
    • No outside advertising - Please refrain from advertising your personal blog, web page, Facebook, or other forums in the signatures, unless you ask first and are given permission.
    • Nothing inappropriate - As cool as it would be to have a gif image of chicks in bikinis wiping down your car every time you post, some people view these forums at work (myself included) and would rather not have those images popping up when you don't want them to.
Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

If you're not familiar with photoshop and have no clue how to piece together some shots into a sig, then post them up here and myself or another member can take a stab at throwing something together for you!

We're a community, why not help each other out?

Will there be an option in the user's CP area to not display images in sig?

Absolutely, you can have links to any of your threads on here if you'd like. It would give easy access for people to see the thread about your car, as well as any information you contribute to the site.

You should be able to add an image to your signature now using [IMG] code.

Please refer to the size restrictions in the first post, and have at it!

Let me know if you have any problems with it.

I have a search-related question. Since my signature contains a list of my mods, whenever someone searches the forum - let's say for info about a 9500ix radar detector - they get a ton of hits back with links to every single one of my posts since "9500ix" is in my signature. Is there a way to keep my signature as-is but somehow keep it hidden from the search results?

    Tony
