Anybody ever have to replace their windshiels

My windshield out of nowhere got a crack on the top left corner where they put a sticker.
It started at the top and wasn't real noticeable.
It has gotten bigger and bigger.
Don't have a ding where nothing has hit it.
Its parked in my carport with a roof over it.

I like the factory windshield. I like how the Factory has the dark part going around the top of the windshield. And how its tinted.

Has anybody taken their Optima to the dealer and got them to order a windshield from the Kia Factory.

Been gonna do something about this, but I got a lot going on right now.

    Thanks.

i had my rear window replaced by safelite and i absolutely do not recommend it. they had to replace it 3 times and i had to have them do another repair on top of that. The window i have now still isn't perfect, there's some weird defect where it slightly distorts the sight. the defect goes from end to end and creates this horizontal line which i find so freaking annoying. I really regret not going with the dealer

My windshield was hit by a rock and the rock chip turned into a crack so I had my windshield replaced. I went to JN Phillips. The experience was pretty bad. The windshield was installed off center and the tech decided to break some plastic trim pieces. Also left a mess of glass debris all over the dashboard and front seats. They also didn't clean the windshield. Anyhow, the manager of the shop replaced the windshield again and did a much better job and the broken pieces were replaced by another manager. The manager who replaced the broken parts owns a 2012 KIA Optima so I'll probably have him do any future glass replacement.

By the way, I found out the replacement windshield was made by Pilkington, who I believe makes all the windshields for KIA. I did not opt to have them send it out to KIA to add the logo or anything -- it would've been more expensive. I avoided Safelite because they apparently make their own glass and heard of folks having issues as a result.

I recommend that you watch while they replace the windshield, to avoid problems later on down the road.

I had my shield do the same thing in my cadenza. Insurance quoted me and I stated with the rep I wanted an OEM replacement, not the Safelite version.

Called the Kia Dealership on a windshield from the factory.
They said the windshield was like 760.00 and there was a molding kit I would have to have and it cost 65.00
And they have a windshield that does windshields and he will put the windshield in for 80.00.

    That's about 800.00

Think its gonna stay Broke for a while.

Do you not have insurance? This should be covered under glass claims, depends on what your premium is. My windshield came out to be 800 something with everything but I only paid 500 due to insurance.

Haven't posted for a while but I thought I'd chime in. Recently I noticed a crack in the lower driver's side of my windshield. It suddenly appeared one day. I took it to a local garage in my town and they charged me just over $200 for the whole job! Including labor. All I can say is check around first. Charging $800 seems like robbery to me. It was cheaper in the long run than going through my insurance company.

    Thanks.
But if it ain't tinted and have the black around the top of the Windshield like the one from the Factory.
I will not have it done.
I want Quality , not the cheapest.
Don't want the sun knocking my eyes out.
